Sometimes you just need to shut up!!!
For years in nursing, I’ve sat quietly with people in the rawest moments of grief, trauma, and uncertainty. What I’ve learned is this: sometimes the most powerful thing we can do is simply listen.
As humans, we often feel the need to say something, to offer advice, or to fix things. Sometimes we like to share our own experience to try and relate, But true support, Whether in healthcare, leadership or business isn’t always about having the right words, it’s about holding space & being fully present.
In my new role as Aftercare Manager with with the Air Ambulance, I carry that same belief with me, that listening isn’t passive. It’s active. It’s compassionate. , It’s creating a safe space where someone feels seen, heard, and not alone in their pain and confusion
The photo says “shhh,” but in reality it means: I’m here, I’m present, I’m hearing you.
Sometimes it's knowing that any words I have is not going to change an outcome.
Because healing doesn’t always begin with words it doesn't even come from being listened to, it comes from feeling heard.
