**UPDATE**

We have been totally overwhelmed and humbled by the kindness and generosity of everyone who has responded to our post either with messages of support or donations to help us meet the cost of the free meals.

Thank you so much from the bottom of our hearts. There really are so many good people out there. ❤️

The wonderful donations that everyone has made will now allow us to extend our offer to include Saturday 31st Oct (11.30am til 1.45pm) and Sunday 1st Nov (1pm to 2pm)

We would also like to extend the offer to all those parents who are struggling in these very difficult times, and not just those who have children who are entitled to free school meals, as we recognise that it's very easy to just miss out on qualifying for help sometimes. Please message us if this is your situation.

If anyone who has already donated only wishes their money to go to those children we originally included (ie those already entitled to free school meals, please message us and we will of course, respect your wishes)

**FREE MEALS FOR KIDS THIS HALF TERM**

Following the government's decision not to provide free meals for school children over the half term holidays, here at Carholme Chippy, we would like to do something to help the community. We will be providing a hot meal for any school child who is normally entitled to free school meals over the half term. We believe that no child in this country should ever have to go hungry.

If you need help or know someone who does, please private message us here. All we need is some kind of proof that the child or children are currently entitled to free school meals. The meals will be completely free and we will not ask you to buy anything from us to qualify.

Your children can choose from:

Sausage (battered or plain), chips and peas or beans, and a cup drink
Or
Fishcake, chips and peas or beans, and a cup drink

And for our VEGAN and VEGETARIAN customers:

Vegan sausage (plain or battered), chips, peas or beans, and a cup drink
Or
Vegan burger (battered or plain), chips, peas or beans and a cup drink.

The meals will be available every day from 11.30 am until 1.45pm from Monday 26th October until Friday 30th October.

If any of our customers would like to help with our scheme there are several ways that you can donate. You can either ask for the cost of a meal to be added to your order when you are in the shop

Donate some money by putting it in the special tin we will have on the counter

Or you can donate online via our online ordering service here.
