🧁✨ Baking Fun at Bunkers Hill...

There’s nothing quite like the smell of freshly baked cakes – and our residents at Bunkers Hill Care Home have been busy in the kitchen!

Once our cakes had cooled, it was time for the best part – decorating! From hundreds and thousands to choc chips, icing, and colourful toppings, everyone’s creativity came to life.

Of course, no baking session would be complete without the final step… a nice cup of tea and the chance to sit back, relax, and enjoy the results of all our hard work. ☕💜

A truly lovely way to spend the afternoon together.

💜 Creativity and Connection at Bunkers Hill...

At Bunkers Hill Care Home we’ve been busy enjoying a mix of fun and creativity with our residents. Our craft sessions have brought out some wonderful ideas, with our huge arts and crafts kit being put to good use – we can’t wait to see the finished creations! 🎨✨

Of course, it wasn’t all quiet concentration… our games of snakes and ladders proved to be surprisingly competitive, with plenty of smiles and laughter along the way. 🐍🪜

Happy Birthday to……Us!…..

We can hardly believe it, but it’s been 20 years since Bunkers Hill opened its doors and started supporting and caring for the people of our local communities. The time has flown by and the home has seen quite a few changes over the years. We thought this milestone was worthy of a special celebration…and what better way to mark the 20 years than by having a Black Tie Ball!

A huge thank you to all our staff who made such an effort to get themselves and our lovely residents red carpet ready! Also a big thank you to our wonderful kitchen team for giving us all such a great spread complete with the best cake ever!

But perhaps most of all we should take this opportunity to thank our residents and their families who have helped us help them over the last 20 years. It has not always been easy but it has always been incredibly fulfilling and worthwhile, and an absolute privilege to be able to help those in our community who need it most.

It was a really glamorous event - the pictures speak for themselves, and here’s to the next 20 years of great care and wonderful people!

⚽️ Cheering on the Lionesses at Bunkers Hill....

Here at Bunkers Hill, we’ll be settling in later to watch the Women’s Euro Final — and we’re proudly rooting for England to bring it home!

It’s been fantastic following the ups and downs of the competition so far, and we’re so impressed by the determination, teamwork, and talent the England ladies have shown on the pitch.

The excitement is building, and our residents are ready to cheer, sing, and support the Lionesses every step of the way. Come on, England! 🎉⚽️

A bit about us….If you’re new to our page, you might like to know a little bit about the lovely community that is Bunkers Hill.

Bunkers Hill is a purpose-built care home, situated for easy access into the centre of Lincoln and the Outer Circle Road. It is also close to a wide range of shopping and leisure facilities including a retail park with several restaurants and cafes, providing excellent amenities for family, friends and visitors.

Bunkers Hill offers residents a warm and friendly home where they will be looked after with respect for their individual wishes and needs. We have a highly experienced nursing and care team, available twenty-four hours a day, who understand that a supportive environment is important, but that people also want to retain as much independence and choice in their daily routine as possible.

Many people are worried that going in to a care home means being removed from family and friends and the little things of daily life that they cherish. Nothing could be further from the truth. We never underestimate the importance of family and friends and actively encourage their continued involvement in the life of our residents. Loved ones can visit at any time and we hope that they will want to join in some of the many activities and events that occur every day. All our homes are communities, and just as with communities outside the home, it is when whole families and their friends get together and share experiences that great memories are made.

Stay cool this week...

With a heatwave happening, it's time to think about staying cool...

It’s important for older people to keep themselves safe - as excessive heat can quickly cause problems for some people.

Here at Bunkers Hill we always make sure our residents are properly hydrated and kept as cool as possible. We thought we would post this excellent advice from Age UK which you might find useful during the coming week. Enjoy the warmth but stay well everyone.

- Keep blinds down and windows closed when it's cooler inside than out.
- A cool bath or shower, or a damp cloth or a splash of water on the back of your neck can be better at cooling you down than a fan.
- Most medication should be kept below 25°C – so it might be best to keep it in the fridge when it's really hot.
- Drink plenty of water to avoid getting dehydrated, but avoid alcohol as it can dehydrate you.
- Keep eating even if you're not feeling too hungry. Try to eat more food that's cold and has a lot of water in it, like fruit or salad.

We hope that all of you stay safe & hydrated this week and we will be doing our best to make sure all our residents are kept as cool as possible.
