Hello, I am Kelly and welcome to my private counselling practice, Chestnut House Therapies.

I started my my journey to becoming a counsellor many years ago when I was at secondary school, as a peer educator (not that I knew this was where it would start) I learnt to listen and give space to anyone who needed it at our lunchtime drops ins. Then as a customer services manager for EasyJet at Gatwick Airport, I was often helping travellers in difficult situations and offering support beyond what the job required. I didn’t realise it then, but I was always working with people in need, who often were facing challenging life events or very anxious passengers. I went on to work in several customer facing roles and fast forward several (a lot!) of years later I realised helping people was part of who I am, and I loved it too.

After having my two boys (who are now teenagers!) and moving quite a few times due to RAF postings with my husband’s job, we settled in Lincoln. So, in 2015 I went back to being a student and in 2018 I qualified as a Person Centred Therapeutic Counsellor.

I run my practice from home, offering online sessions, and I do face to face sessions from the Queens Park Community Hub in Lincoln. I have extensive experience of working with children, young people/students and adults. I have worked with clients for many different reasons, anxiety/overthinking, low self worth/confidence & self esteem issues, inter-family relationship problems, understanding healthy relationships, domestic abuse, coercive control and grief/loss.

There are many reasons why people seek out counselling and it can feel like a daunting process. I am here to listen and understand you in a nonjudgmental and relaxed environment so we can work through your reasons for wanting therapy together.

Give me a call, email or text/WhatsApp and we can have an informal chat about your situation and then if you feel I’m the right therapist for you we can book in an appointment 💚💙

And relax….

It’s been a very busy time since the International Conference 2024 on 8th & 9th November. There’s been lots of family’s to support, a local meet up to attend in Diseworth, Leicestershire, and many follow up contacts and calls to make. The last two days I’ve been online hosting our virtual meet ups for Mums and Grandparents, I am very humbled to be able to hold space for our families and give them a chance to meet others on the ever turbulent DMD journey.

So, I’m having a coffee in my favourite spot before I head back to the laptop for the afternoon. Watching the robins and the red arrows perform their routines out the window… 💚💙

How are you starting your Saturday?

Moments of calm here after a very busy week with clients and conference planning… prior to the basketball and football games that fill my weekends 💞

How are you looking after yourself this weekend?

Time for a rest… we need to be honest with ourselves and right now, thats me!

The last few months it’s been quite full on, with my Husband overseas for six months, my eldest taking his GCSEs, all the driving around to the sports that both my boys do, running a business along with my main job at Action Duchenne…. Not to mention the housework! It’s all been quite tiring, and I’m noticing I’m getting quite fatigued.

I’m very grateful that I have so many enriching experiences in my life, and I know I’m the type of person who likes to be busy, however it’s time for a little rest, as with many helping professions we often need a reset.

I will be doing this next week and I will be back from 3rd June.

Remember to be honest with yourself, are you feeling burnout from life right now?
