Additional information

Towels will be used throughout the treatment for clients comfort and dignity. Massage cream or oil’s will be used for treatments. Should you have any allergies please notify the therapist before booking commences. Our aim is to make the client feel as comfortable as possible and prior treatment the therapist will discuss with you on the routine of the massage. Please be aware massage treatment may result in bruising, rashes and delayed muscle soreness. These reactions are all normal and post treatment advice and tips will be discussed at the end of your appointment. Please note prices will differ on treatment requests, distance and locations outside of Lincoln areas, I.e NG, DN or South Yorkshire postal areas.

Basic guide towards your strength/resistance training needs. Whether you are maintaining your current fitness or in a current rehabilitation programme, take this image as your guideline moving forward.

In between your strength related work, significant recovery is also needed. Whatever your goals/aims the body needs time to recover and allow muscle growth to the next stage of resistance used. Follow up on our recent post, why are you experiencing back pain? Why is it reoccurring?

The REAL question is, is it conditioned to what you want to achieve or a target outcome. For example, are you adapting it around your work environment or even your own lifestyle? Are muscles weak around your back, resulting in it taking more stress than it actually needs?

Where to go from here?
If you know us well enough, you’ll be aware we a very “pro-core/if in doubt get the core out.” Activating with abs/hip flexors will take stress off loads around your body in work environments, lifestyle or gym related activities. Strong core/hip flexors will give us stability, strong muscle activation and improve overall functional performance.

How often do you change your trainers? AND are you using right footwear for your goals?

Think about your footwear as the “Tyre” for your journey. Good grip, smooth motions, less risk of slipping and causing damage.

So our point…

Over worn or unsuitable footwear can cause unnecessary stress on your ankles, knees and hips. This creating risks of chronic injuries and interference of your training. We strongly suggest to maintain your trainer purchases on a regular basis throughout the year. Depending on your use, we suggest changing your footwear within 3-6 months, or quarterly throughout the year. OR a free tip you can take, invest in alternating pairs to use throughout your week.

What can you do now? Take a look at your current footwear, check your grip, check the padding. Check the wear and see if a new pair of trainers can make that difference 👌🏻.

Having setbacks in your fitness/rehab plan? Unsure what’s going wrong?

Take these factors into consideration:

Consistency 📈 - how often are you working on your goals? Are you dedicating time to your goals? Are you tracking what you have done?

Diet 🍱 /Water intake💧- Eating and drinking well will ensure you are getting the right nutrients in your body needs towards your goals. Maintain your proteins and hydration in particular to avoid fatigue, risk of losing muscle mass and to flushing any toxins out of your body.

Rest and recovery patterns 🛌 - how much sleep you actually getting? Are you giving yourself enough time to recover from your exercise therapy? Are you having time for YOURSELF? Rest and recovery is an undervalued factor. It’s your body’s chance to reset and recharge for the next step.

Lifestyle 🍺 🚬 - what is your lifestyle like? As much as you want to enjoy yourself, what’s your focus? Intake of alcohol, for example cannot only affect physiological changes but also can differ moods, energy, decreases hydration and motivation. Low moods and motivation can lead to limited time on your own goals and focus.

Medical backgrounds 💊 - medications and medical conditions may affect your recovery. Regular medications intake can effect blood or sugar levels needed to help with healing. We all react different to medications, however take this into consideration should any healing process take longer as normal. Any concerns on your medication refer back to your local pharmacy or GP.

Communication - contact with your therapist/trainer is key towards your fitness/rehab progression. Let them know where you currently are, be HONEST on what you have done or not been able to do. Honesty can lead to making amendments to your programme or to what else is needed to help you progress.

Own patience - Remember your body needs time re adapt and adjust back to your needs. You may not notice but injured areas become weak and muscle groups become inactive when not in use. Typically your body will need at least 7-10 days to start noticing difference IF regular interventions are taking place.
