We have been working on a mixture of bodyweight balance, mobility static and moving stretches for lower and upper body and upper resistance bands over the past few weeks and the difference in my clients posture is incredible, at nearly 80 years of age, it shows consistency wins over anything else! (Wish I took a photo to show the difference)

Static and isometric exercises challenge your muscles to contract for an extended period of time which can improve muscular endurance, by strengthening the core and stabiliser muscles this can also help prevent injury, lower blood pressure over time. Static stretches also help to release stress and tension which can help you feel more relaxed ☺️

13 weeks left until we meet our daughter 🥰🌺 prioritising movement, meditation, wellness and time with our son before 3 becomes 4 🫶🏼

After experiencing the mental and physical ongoing effects of grief plus adding in a toddler and pregnancy after my 35y old sister passed from breast cancer last year, the benefits and effects of exercise has become even more important to me.

If you had asked me 10 years ago I would have said my priorities were to look good in a bikini and lift as heavy as I could.

If you ask me now I would say, I lift weights, practice pilates and yoga to feel good for my mental health, improve joint mobility and strength to increase my energy for running after my children, mainly focusing on balance and control, I walk in nature to improve my wellbeing and meditate/breath work to help improve increased anxiety from daily grief and overstimulation from parenting.

I love training all my clients and adapting their needs to their different goals, over the years I have seen a shift in why people choose me as their trainer. I am blessed to have such lovely ongoing loyal clients, thank you. I will take a break after the new year to bond with my newborn before hopefully welcoming everyone back 🥰

Hope you’re all having a lovely weekend 🌺🫶🏼

Exercise to feel good, to improve balance, co ordination and stability.
Exercise to release endorphins and feel the stress of everyday life lift after each session.
Exercising to support mental health, reduce anxiety and to fit into your daily/weekly schedule.

Why weight train post partum?

To restore the strength you have lost, especially slowly building the abdominal area up to help prevent low back pain.

My 76 year old client doesn’t come for two sessions per week for a 6 pack. No,

he comes to squat so he can get in and out of a chair with ease, he comes to deadlift so he can pick things up from the ground, he comes to farmers walk so he can bring the food shop in from the car by himself, he comes to do overhead press to lift luggage above his head if using public transport and going on holiday, he comes to strengthen his upper body and core to ensure his posture and overall strength. He also comes for the social interaction, mental health and routine. Absolute respect, well done 👏🏼

Finally getting to enjoy the bifold doors open and the fresh air !
Everyone knows how much I push how good exercising pre, during and post pregnancy, the physical benefits but also the mental impact it can give you and of course, setting the example early to your children the importance of adding exercise to your daily routine, my client is 8 months post partum, we have been building up her strength throughout the weeks and can really see a positive change, well done 💪🏼🫶🏼

The role of the glutes is to stabilise the pelvis and hip.

They work together to provide proper pelvic alignment when moving and when balancing on one leg.

Weakness of the glutes has a significant impact on your body’s biomechanics during everyday activities like walking, going downstairs and lifting.

The compensation for this weakness commonly results in injuries – particularly to the lower back, knees and feet.

Keep your glutes strong 💪🏼
