For people living with dementia, having a daily routine can bring comfort, reduce anxiety, and support independence.
Simple, familiar patterns help the day feel more predictable and calm. Some of the most helpful things to include in a daily routine are:
π°οΈ Waking up and going to bed at the same time
π½οΈ Regular mealtimes and snack times
πΏ Morning hygiene (washing, brushing teeth, getting dressed)
πͺ Daily quiet time or rest
π¨ Hobbies and activities like music, crafts, or puzzles
πΆβοΈ A bit of gentle exercise or fresh air
πΊ Favourite TV shows or radio programmes
π«Ά Time with loved ones or carers
ποΈ A wind-down routine before bed (low lighting, soft music, no noise)
But just as important, dementia doesnβt mean giving up the things we love! πΆπ»π°
People with dementia can still enjoy outings, hobbies, laughter, and quality time. At Bernadette House, we support our residents to enjoy their day their way, with kindness, care, and lots of smiles π
