Using Interests concretes learning !

Working with children for many years, you begin to learn how to get them engaged and reinforce their learning. An important part of this is using their interests to spur on curiosity and direct the foundation of teaching.

However as I teach my trainee coaches it’s also about knowing a child’s learning style. I always ask parents before children start “what are their learning styles?” Is it creative, scientific, kinaesthetic, talking based etc. This way you are able to gauge and plan out appropriately. There is nothing worse than being a boring coach 😂 in my opinion that is.

This is most likely why my clients are practically minded are share my neurospice flare !

Look at this activity for example, can you guess what the interest is ?😂 So we were discussing the nervous system states, quite in depth, but simply framed as, you have attackers (Sympathetic) and defender (parasympathetic). We were able to talk through brain states that then led to the players pushing either way and work on the tools defenders could use to calm the nervous system !

Creative coaching is the one, I feel I need to start making a book/resource of these ideas ? What do you reckon ?

Let’s get those eyes moving and grooving

I had the pleasure of supporting the lovely Matt Kendall last weekend training up 6 new child and teen coaches.

The power of IEMT always baffles my brain. I use it in my sessions to support children and teens with memories or big feelings that feel stuck or have a big impact on their lives. The results I get are still crazy.

I recently had a client who was so chronically anxious it was ruining their life. We completed 2 sessions. By session 2, their body language, changed, looked, lighter, reported positive changes. By the final session 3 they were so relaxed they were being late for the things that were making them chronically anxious and could get on with things that felt a never ending climb.

I genuinely love having a toolbox full of supports. It is super important when working with such diverse and unique individuals to be able to have other techniques to use and create change.

I recently spoke to a young person about the two wolves. There are two wolves, one is light, happiness and change, the other darkness, pain and rigidity. Which one survives?? The one you feed.

I Wasn't Always Comfortable in Front of a Room!

Yes I know I present as a born star.. right? Wrong, the most confident people are shrouded in not being confident! But, when the subject is sleep and I know what a difference it makes to children, to parents, to whole families, something just takes over. This was me delivering at a recent conference and honestly I was absolutely in my element.

Slides flying all over the place, jokes, using music to cement learning. I just absolutely love it. The best dopamine hit you can get.

Life Goes Where a River Flows...Right?

Rivers Do Something to My Nervous System That I Can't Fully Explain! There is a reason so much of the work I do is rooted in the idea that we have to carry calm before we can share it. Sometimes there is so much to be said for a space with someone who is going to give your 110% of them for a solid hour. Children and families need that.

Whether I am working with a child who cannot regulate, a family at breaking point, or an adult who hasn't slept properly in years, it always starts here. That is why it always comes back to my tagline... Regulate then Rewire then Rebuild... I don't believe it can happen any other way.

With someone feeling safe enough to just be still. That is what I am always aiming to create. For you. For the children. For everyone.

Look at This Face! That right there is pure unfiltered "I cannot believe this is actually happening" energy and I am not even slightly embarrassed about it.

This was my very first Williams Wellbeing sign, that I handmade... I know creative genius at work...Thank you. And I remember standing in front of it thinking, this is real, I actually did this. I don't know how it is going to work, but it needs to happen because this is the chapter of life next on the list.

I think after being employed for the last 15 years... it's time I was my own boss for a while, handling the reigns and doing what's right, not just what other people think is right.

Williams Wellbeing exists to support children, families with mental health, coaching, sleep, feeling stuck and all the things in between, and it started with this sign, this silly face and a whole lot of determination and spicy brain juice.

''But the cherry trees forgot to bloom'' - Not today Mary Poppins !

Cherry Blossom Season Does Something to My Soul! There is something about things that are fleeting and beautiful that reminds me why we need to actually be present for our lives and not just powering through them on autopilot.

The fact it's like spring snow is also pretty wicked too. mostly because it does not freeze you to death. However, blossom balls.. not a thing either.. not sure where I am going here, ADHD brain, back on track... Roger, recalibrating,, beep boop beep boop.

In my work with children and families we spend a lot of time slowing down and noticing. Using tools repetitively, holding space, sharing wins. It sounds so simple but for a lot of people it is genuinely one of the hardest things to do. If you are reading this mid scroll at 10pm, Hello, you little doomscroller. Put the phone down after this one and get your butt to bed.

Myself and my colleague put an absolute shift in to get this done!

To be fair the manual is also an excellent pillow and I will absolutely stand by that, an expensive one mind.... In all seriousness this qualification changed everything about how I support families with sleep and I am genuinely so proud of it.

Sleep is not a luxury and it is often something we massively take for granted, especially when it goes wrong. It is not something to push through or fix with an early bedtime and a prayer. It is the foundation of everything, emotional regulation, learning, behaviour, mental health, all of it. And I can help.

No Agenda. No Plan. Just This!

I genuinely believe in the power of being outside with absolutely nothing to do (short lived in today's world I know!).

In my work I talk a lot about regulation and what brings us back to ourselves when everything feels too loud, and nature comes up every single time. I speak about this all the time. Genuinely research says you get more outside time if you are in PRISON. Think about that, when children get home from a day inside school and the spend the evening inside... that is unnatural. Us humans need sunlight, fresh air and movement to have good mental health and wellbeing.

For the children I work with, for the families, for the adults who have quietly forgotten that they are allowed to just breathe, go outside for a moment and that is okay. This moment cost nothing and fixed something I didn't even know needed fixing that day.

Go and find yourself a spot under some trees today, close your eyes for a moment and take a bloody breath !

This Sunrise Though! Golden Hour Goals!

I have a slightly complicated relationship with early mornings, as a sleep consultant I feel like I should be their biggest fan, but honestly sometimes a sunrise just hits different when you've actually slept properly.

This one in the old photo stopped me completely in my tracks (and honey). Sleep quality changes everything, mood, focus, emotional regulation, relationships, all of it.

Whatever You've Been Putting Off, Stop Putting It Off!

The conversation, the appointment, the asking for help, the googling "is this normal" at 11pm. I see you and I hear you. I support children, families and parents with sleep, mental health coaching, IEMT and all the stuff that's hard to talk about but really needs to be talked about.

Williams Wellbeing exists because real support should feel human, not clinical and not scary. I am not going to sit there with a clipboard and nod my head. YOU ARE A STAR BABY !!!!!

Situation. Trigger. Actions. Reflections = STAR.

Me and my brilliant friend (Miss Beardwell) proudly rocking the bracelets we made during a project working with 5 anxious children, and I could not love this photo more.

When children have a way to name what is happening inside them everything shifts. They move from overwhelmed to curious about themselves. From reactive to reflective. That is the power of giving kids a framework AND making it something they actually want to wear. Adults showing up and practicing what they preach, having fun and teaching tools is absolutely our vibe.

This project was something really special and I am so proud of it. However, I am thinking about transitioning it very soon... From Anxious Brain Project to Brain Bootcamp... Watch this space for updates soon.
