We often ignore our mental health issues not wanting to "bother" people or not feeling ready to address our issues. This means that approximately
1 in 4 people in the UK will experience a mental health problem each year.
Therapy does not magic your problems away. Instead it gives you the opportunity to talk through your feelings, issues or emotions to increase confidence and decision making skills, the ability to manage stress or anxiety effectively, and gain a better understanding of yourself. Perhaps, most importantly it is about being kind to yourself and understanding yourself better.
My favourite word in counselling is CONTROL. Taking control of your life, emotions, relationships, rather than feeling out of control.
I am a counsellor specialising in grief and bereavement counselling and working with ill health and chronic illness but I also see clients with anxiety issues, relationship issues, trauma, anxiety and depression.
