Pain does NOT always mean something is damaged.
And understanding that can completely change how you recover 👇

When your body is healing, it goes through a process - just like a building site:

🔧 Damage
🧹 Cleanup
🧱 Rebuild

That “cleanup phase” creates:
• Inflammation
• Sensitivity
• Discomfort

But that doesn’t mean things are getting worse -
it often means your body is actively repairing.

This is especially important over 50, where fear of pain can stop people moving…
and that’s what actually slows recovery down.

One of the biggest mistakes I see over 50?
Expecting pain to just “switch off” overnight 👇

Healing doesn’t work like a light switch.
It works like a process:

🔧 Damage
🧹 Cleanup
🧱 Rebuilding

And if you rush it — or stop halfway through -
you don’t get a strong recovery… you get setbacks.

That’s why one physio session can help…
but real healing takes consistency, patience, and the right approach.

Shoulder pain over 50 does NOT mean you’re broken.

If your shoulder has been sore, stiff, or aching when you:

reach into cupboards

put on a coat

lift your arm

fasten your seatbelt

…this new video is for you.

On the 10X Physio channel, I’m sharing a simple 30-second daily shoulder exercise that may help reduce pain, ease stiffness, and improve movement safely.

No aggressive stretching.
No fancy equipment.
No pushing through pain.

Just a gentle, physio-approved movement designed especially for people over 50.

In the video, I explain:
✅ why shoulder pain is usually not caused by damage
✅ the biggest mistake that keeps it coming back
✅ why gentle, frequent movement works so well
✅ the best time to do this exercise each day

If you know someone who keeps rubbing their shoulder and saying, “It must be my age,” send this to them, their shoulder might thank you for it.

Even physios get injured too 😅

And sometimes… the hardest part is realising you can’t exactly treat yourself properly when you’re the one lying face down on the treatment couch.

This one is for every physio, sports therapist, massage therapist, chiropractor, osteopath - and every patient who thinks their therapist is somehow made of titanium.

Yes, we give the advice.
Yes, we know what to do.
No, it’s still not quite the same as having someone else sort you out 😂

Pain that keeps flaring up usually isn’t random.
And it’s often not coming from where you feel it most 👇

A sore knee can be caused by stiff ankles.
A tight back can be driven by weak hips.
A painful shoulder can be made worse by a stiff upper back.

When one part of the body stops moving well, another part has to work overtime.
That’s when pain keeps returning - again and again.

This is why I always tell people over 50:
Don’t just chase the pain.
Find the cause.

Two people.
Same surgery.
Very different recovery.

That’s the power of pre-surgery physiotherapy 👇

One person waits, moves less, gets weaker, and struggles more after the operation.
The other builds strength, improves mobility, and learns safer movement before surgery even happens.

Same operation.
Different starting point.
Different result.

That’s why prehab matters so much, especially for adults over 50.
Your recovery does not begin after surgery. It begins with what you do now.

Waiting for surgery is not a pause button.
It’s often the exact time your body starts getting weaker 👇

When pain makes you move less:
❌ Muscles lose strength
❌ Joints get stiffer
❌ Confidence drops
❌ Recovery becomes harder

That’s why pre-surgery physiotherapy matters so much - especially over 50.
Even a few weeks of the right movement can help you go into surgery stronger, more mobile, and better prepared for recovery.

Surgery is a withdrawal.

Your strength and confidence are your savings.

If you go into surgery strong, recovery feels manageable.
If you go in weak, it feels brutal.

Pre-surgery physio isn’t optional.
It’s preparation.

You don’t need a gym to stay strong after 50.

Strength is:
Getting out of chairs.
Climbing stairs.
Carrying shopping.

That’s what keeps you independent.

Not bodybuilding.
Not heavy lifting.
Just real-life strength.

Shoulder pain over 50?

It’s usually not weakness.

Most shoulder pain comes from stiffness and poor shoulder blade movement - not damage.

This simple wall slide improves movement and reduces pressure on irritated areas.

👉 Try it daily
