Sarahās Story:
āMy name is Sarah, and Iām a left leg below-knee amputee. But my story didnāt begin the day I lost my legāit started long before, when I found out I would eventually need an amputation due to complications from an autoimmune disease. That moment changed everything. I had to face the reality of what was ahead, prepare myself mentally and physically, and that's when I sought out Vicki.
Thereās a unique kind of strength in knowing whatās coming and walking toward it anyway. In making peace with the pain, adapting to a new way of living, and learning to see yourself not as broken, but as rebuilt.
My journey with Vicki has taught me that true strength is in the way you show up for yourself, especially on the hard days. Itās in the way you choose resilience over defeat, hope over fear, and pride over shame.
Being an amputee is part of my story, but itās not the whole story. I am stronger nowānot just because of what Iāve been through, but because of how Iāve grown through it. And if thereās one thing Iāve learned, itās this: strength isnāt defined by what you lose. Itās defined by what you fight for, and how you rise.
Strength isnāt always loud. Itās not always about lifting the heaviest weights or running the fastest miles. Sometimes, strength is quiet. Itās choosing to keep going when life throws you a curveball you never saw comingā.
