A few weeks ago we had the pleasure of working with storyteller Genevieve Swift through Arts Care's Here and Now Arts and Older People's Festival.
Our afternoons were transformed into fun filled adventures helping write storys based on objects, songs and even a game of cluedo!! Our day room was full for each session and ideas and creativity came from every person there, it was fabulous hearing everyone work together to create amazing and fun stories. There was always lots of laughter as the story came together, we were always amazed to hear how the story worked out in the end when Genevieve read it back to us.
Big thank you to Genevieve for these visits we all had so much fun and learnt so much about story telling.
Today we received these beautiful books with our stories that Genevieve had kindly typed up, they are lovely to read and relive all the fun we had.

Today saw the start of gardening club at Woodgrove. Nice to see the lovely weather that meant we are able to get outside and plant all our seeds and get them into the greenhouse. Hopefully we will soon be eating our very own home grown tomatoes, cucumbers and lettuce.

What a fun filled and busy day we had yesterday!! We had our very first 'Sensory Art' activity which was wonderful. We started off designing our own coffee mug by colouring them in then we used all our senses,
Smell - we had the lovely aroma of fresh coffee beans, fresh percolated coffee and of course coffee cake.
Touch - we felt the texture of the coffee beans and used them to add texture to our pictures.
Taste - of course we weren't just going to Smell that delicious coffee and coffee cake.
Sight - the bright colours of our art work and of course seeing the coffee beans and where our cup of coffee comes from
Hearing - we listened to a song about coffee and shared fun facts that we looked up online about coffee.

So naturally after all that coffee we were all a bit hyper so we had a good old fashioned sing along and sure you cant have a sing along without a bit of dancing. Absolutely wonderful activity, we all had a great day!

Summer Raffle appeal

We are very excited that summer is (hopefully) on its way soon and we are looking forward to bringing even more fun to our residents and their families.

To make this all possible we are planning a raffle to help fundraise.
Activities are very important to our residents and helps promote mental health, exercise and bring fun and laughter to everyone.

We would be extremely grateful for any prize donations, gifts and vouchers from any local businesses. All donations no matter how big or small will help us to make this a fun filled summer for our residents.

We will make sure to name your business on our page as well as on posters within the home as a thank you for your generosity and help.

We have a summer Bbq every year for our residents and their family and friends which is always a massive success and enjoyed by everyone that attends, we are hoping to make this year our biggest and best one yet. This will only be possible with your help. Thank you in advance, Team Woodgrove
