Experience
I qualified over 10 years ago from the University of Ulster, Jordanstown and I have always had a keen interest in outpatient and sports physiotherapy. During my physiotherapy studies at Jordanstown I provided sports massage to athletes at the Sports Institute Northern Ireland (SINI) and this led to my selection as one of nine physiotherapy students to attend the British University Games (BUGS) in Edinburgh in the spring of 2003. Following this I was chosen as one of two physiotherapy students from the UK and Ireland to provide physiotherapy services to the GB & NI delegation at the World University Games (WUGs) in South Korea in August 2003. On return from the games I commenced employment in the NHS working in Whiteabbey and Altnagelvin hospitals before moving to Musgrave Park Hospital to consolidate my rehabilitation skills. I have worked in an outpatient setting within the NHS and in private practice and in the last few years privately from my own home. Although at present I work as a musculoskeletal specialist physiotherapist within the NHS I have also gained vast experience working with clients with spinal cord injuries, neurological disorders, amputees and clients with learning disabilities. In 2008 I was nominated and awarded the honour of Regional volunteer of the year from the UK National charity Disability Sports Events for my work in the promotion and development of sport for people with physical and/or learning disabilities. I developed my sports physiotherapy skills working at a variety of multi-sport events over the years including at the:
• 2003 British University Games
• 2003, 2005 & 2007 World University Games
• 2006 UK School Games
• 2008, 2009 & 2010 4 Nations pan disability badminton championships
• 2009 World Dwarf Games
• 2008 UK Amputee Games
I have also provided physiotherapy services to
• Ulster Rugby schoolboys
• IFA (most notably with the women’s U17, U19 and senior squads) between 2005-2012
• Cliftonville Ladies FC
• Crusaders Strikers FC
• GB sitting volleyball
• NI men’s volleyball
• Badminton Ireland
• Belfast Giants
• Carrickfergus RFC

Registration
I am a registered practitioner with the:
• Health Professions Council (HPC)
• Chartered Society of Physiotherapy (CSP)
• Association of Chartered Physiotherapists in Sports and Exercise Medicine (ACPSEM)
• Society of Orthopaedic Medicine (SOM)

Training
I have completed internationally recognised postgraduate diplomas in Orthopaedic Medicine from the Society of Orthopaedic Medicine and Sports Physiotherapy from the University of Bath. I am a qualified practitioner in the use of instrumented fascial/manual therapy and kinesiotaping and I have completed courses in the McKenzie technique and kinesiotaping. Facilities

We strive to render excellent clinical care to you and the rest of our patients. With increasing demand and only limited availability of appointments to ensure we can be consistent with this approach, we have to introduce an Appointment Cancellation Policy that allows us to schedule appointments for all patients.

When an appointment is scheduled, that time has been set aside for you and when it is missed, that time cannot be used to treat another patient who needs our services.

Our policy is as follows:
We request that you please contact our clinic before 8am on the morning of your appointment to notify us that you cannot attend your scheduled appointment slot. Please call or message us on 07720892721 or email us at Clairebriggsphysio@outlook.com with your cancellation notification, this will allow us the opportunity to offer that appointment to another patient. If you contact us after 8am on the morning of your appointment 50% of the standard fee will be charged.

If you do cancel, the late notice cancellation fee will be removed if Claire Briggs Physiotherapy & Sports Injury Clinic is able to fill the allocated appointment slot. So it is in your interest (as well as ours) to give as much notice as possible of any appointment changes.

If a patient misses an appointment without contacting the clinic, this is considered a missed appointment and a full standard fee will be charged. If a patient accumulates a total of 3 missed appointments, the patient may not be rescheduled for future appointments until this outstanding amount has been paid in full and they will be required to pre-pay for any future appointments.

If you are claiming for treatment through your medical insurer they will not pay the cancellation charge and you will be liable for this payment.

If you arrive late for your appointment, we will do our best to deliver your full appointment slot time but please bear in mind this may not be possible and your full appointment fee will stand.

At any stage, if you fail to attend any appointments, all future appointments will be cancelled and you will be required to reschedule.

We ask clients to make every effort to keep their scheduled appointments to avoid us having to turn other clients away when we are fully booked.

One of the biggest changes to UK data privacy law comes into effect on 25 May 2018.

GDPR helps you to have more control over how your data is used and how you are contacted. The changes also help to better protect your personal data.

As a current, previous or prospective client, we would really like to carry on sending you information about our Physiotherapy and Sports Injury Clinic, but we can only now do this with your consent. Therefore when you attend the clinic from now on we will ask if you will complete a form indicating how you are happy for us to contact you in the future and how we use your personal data.

Please feel free to contact us if you have any questions and please be aware you have the right to withdraw the 'consent to be contacted' at any time by just getting in touch.

Thanks Claire
