Great news for recycling! Might have to get some bigger bags 😅💚👏🏼

♻️ Exciting recycling news: from this week you can put your tetra paks and soft plastics into your household recycling collection across Cornwall.

✅️ The new materials include cartons used for foods such as:

Milk
Juice
Custard
Soup
Passata and tomatoes
Beans and pulses

To recycle them, simply rinse, squash them and pop them in your red recycling bag.

✅ ️Plastics and wrapping including:

Plastic and bread bags, cereal bags, salad bags, frozen food bags and carrier bags
Multi-pack wrapping
Bubble wrap
Cling film
Plastic film lids
Fruit and vegetable nets
Chocolate, sweet and biscuit wrappers
Crisp packets
To recycle them, put your plastic bags and wrapping into a carrier or bread bag and tie it at the top.

If you have space, put the tied bag inside your red recycling bag. No space left? Put the tied bag on top of your black box or tuck it securely between your other recycling bags so it doesn’t blow away.

🤸‍♀️ This is how I feel about this news. It's a little thing that will make recycling a lot easier for households across Cornwall.

Has your stuff and space become a problem for you? Keeping on top of ourselves let alone our homes can be tricky and we know all too well how things can build up and become something we can’t tackle alone.

We have a recommendation of a lovely lady we both know and trust, Bonnie, who is now up and running with her fabulous decluttering and sorting service covering Cornwall.

Bonnie has personal experience of looking after people with mental health issues and is a gentle and kind soul to work with.

You and your space will be in very safe hands.

We thought we’d share this lovely picture of our Mishelle who is one of our regular guests at Oakleigh House.

While we appreciate reading isn’t for everyone, those that do love nothing more than curling up with a good book and the lounge here at Oakleigh or one of our 5 guest bedrooms are the perfect place to relax, unwind and read.

We also have book shelves full of books both to borrow or buy for a small donation so there is always something to read here. Equally you can bring books to exchange.

What are you reading at the moment and what are your favourite books to read?
Pop your suggestions in the commments and let’s inspire each other to read as a form of self care.

It’s the start of a new week and a new cohort of guests arriving.

This week we have a small group of ladies who met at Oakleigh and gelled together as friends. While we wait for everyone to arrive, guests have been relaxing with crafts, books and lots of chats and cuddles with Lady Helga.

Tuesday brings our lovely dream team Senior Rachel and Mr Crumbles who takes over as we wait for the rest of our house to arrive.

Most weeks we have seasoned guests staying,
so for those who might be new to Oakleigh there are always people here who understand what it’s like to come here for the first time. It can be daunting, but like Mishelle (pictured) once you settle in you keep coming back again and again. Knowing you have a few months to go before the next stay guest have said that their stays at Oakleigh House keep them going the rest of the time. We couldn’t ask for better feedback!

Here’s to another lovely week here at Oakleigh House with a little bit of sunshine to boot

Our new Oakleigh House Staff Photos are finally all in place.

As part of this little project Support Workers Sophie & Claire wanted to display staff as you would with any family member in a home. Candid, out and about, being silly, showcasing talents, interests or commemorating special moments and relationships.

Don’t be fooled by Daphne and Bohdi the doggies, as they are only in situ temporarily until we have another Support Worker join our team,
so watch this space!

Next up will be our beloved Doggies 🐾
