A horse drawn hearse always turns heads and it’s an elegant way to arrive at a crematorium or burial ground. There’s no rule to say you have to use a traditional hearse for your final journey, one local funeral director has a smart 4x4 and Prince Philip designed his own adapted Land Rover for his funeral.

The new Park Crematorium is somewhere I visit frequently in my role as a celebrant. This Saturday, 26th April, they are holding an open day where visitors can be shown round the three ceremony rooms and see demonstrations of the audio and visual technology, as well as the ‘mood lighting’. Optional tours of the crematory are available.

No need to book, just turn up - the team there are lovely people. Tours are at 10am, 11am, 12am, 1pm, 2pm and 3pm.

The onsite public cafe will be open and there’s plenty of parking. If you are curious, go along to The Park on Saturday and have a look at this wonderful new facility.
