Day 22 we have Beautiful Bonnie.

Bonnie is a nearly 15 year old labradoodle who comes to us monthly for arthritis in her hips and hind limbs.

Bonnie goes in the pool to have a therapeutic, weightless exercise to give those back legs a chance to mobilise without impact on her joints. She also enjoys a massage during her breaks. Even just standing in the 32°C water she will still be getting the benefit.

The warm water helps keep those muscles a bit looser and the hydrostatic pressure aids reduction inflammation and eases pain. Bonnie is doing very well, especially for nearly 15!! 🐾

Day 21 we have the lovely Ollie.

Ollie is another rescue who underwent a femoral head and neck excision a couple of years ago. This surgery was rehabbed with us at the time, and he is now back to maintain the muscle mass after loosing a little condition on his back end.

Ollie has a good workout in the pool, building up both strength and stamina. It’s a good mental workout aswell as a physical workout, and he is absolutely smashing it.
Well done Ollie boy! 🐾

Day 20 we have gorgeous Charlie.

Charlie is a rescue sprocker who has bilateral hip dysplasia and cruciate disease.

He had a TTA in his back right leg in 2019 for his cruciate ligament. Then fast forward to this year and he has had to have a TPLO in his left hind due to his other cruciate disease!

TTA (tibial tuberosity advancement) is another option for cruciate surgery. It involves cutting the top of the tibia and moving it forward, changing the knee's angle so the quadriceps muscle stabilizes the joint instead of the damaged ligament.

Charlie is currently coming to us weekly to build up muscle tone in his back legs to keep them strong, and he is doing very well! We keep the water high to support his hips an stifles, but put the incline up so he has to work hard!!

Keep up the good work Charlie 🐾

Day 19 we have the Bouncy Bode.

Bode is usually out doing canicross and bikejor but he has unfortunately injured his carpal extensor muscle so is on doctors orders to rest, rehab and get back into exercise slowly (well, as slowly as a bode can go!!).

He has recently returned back to hydrotherapy for some gentle, reduced impact exercise on the treadmill. This will be very gradually increased as he gets better, eventually building back up to what he was doing before which was walking on an incline, walking with lower water and trotting.

Bode also has a multi model approach as luckily his mum is Ki5 Canine Therapy so is in the best possible hands for a full recovery.

For Day 18 we have Mabel.

Mabel is another one of our newbies, and she is currently having treatment in our underwater treadmill weekly to help with her mobility and strength. She has a multi model approach so is also under the care of a veterinary physiotherapist weekly.

Mabel has arthritis in her right stifle, she has a bulging disc in her cervical spine, and an osteophyte (bone spur) in her lumbar-sacral spine. Despite this list of issues, Mabel has taken to the treadmill like a duck to water and is doing very well.
What a good girl 🐾

Day 17 we have Flynn.

Flynn had a femoral head and neck excision. If the acetabulum and the head of the femur do not fit together properly, this poor fit can influence the range of movement of the joint. This poor joint fit can also lead to chronic pain and inflammation.
A FHNE involves removal of the head and neck of the femur to eliminate painful bone-on-bone contact in the hip, creating a "false joint" with scar tissue for pain-free motion.

Flynn is coming to us twice a week to recieve treatment in both the underwater treadmill and the pool to build up muscle tone and range of motion.
Flynn is doing very well and is certainly enjoying getting to swim after his squeaky toy!!
Well done Flynn! 🐾

Day 16 we have handsome boy Brocc.

Brocc is an australian cattle dog who suffers with nerve pain in his back, causing spasms and discomfort in his back end.

This nerve pain causes the muscles in his hind limbs to be tighter, so he goes into the treadmill every week to encourage better extension of his back legs.

He has only been with us for a couple of weeks and already this amazing boy is doing so well!!

5 stars to you Brocc! 🐾

For Day 15 we have our biggest client!
The beautiful Great Dane/Gentle Giant, Ruby.

Ruby struggles with arthritis in her hips and hind legs so she comes to us fortnightly for strengthening/maintenance sessions. So long as she gets a massage and a treat inbetween each stint she’s a happy girl!!

We keep the water high for the ultimate support for those joints whilst she walks through the water. She is doing great!

Your a superstar Ruby 🐾

Day 14 is Magnificent Maddie!

She recently had a bilateral carpal arthrodesis, meaning both her carpal joints have been fused due to instability causing her pain. This fusion means she has had to adjust her gait pattern.

Unfortunately this change has been a bit of a struggle for Maddie, so she came to us. We have used both our treadmill and swimming pool during our treatments, so that we can keep her shoulders and elbows as mobile as we can.
We do passive stretches with her forelimbs and lots of massage to help them loosen up. She is doing fantastic.
Well done Maddie 🐾

This little man is our day 13!
Lupin is a Lhasa apso who had TPLO surgery following a dog colliding with him on the beach. He also has cruciate disease. He is doing very well in his recovery, and he will soon be moving onto maintenance sessions in our underwater treadmill.
Having maintenance treatment will keep those back legs strong, reducing the risk of his other cruciate ligament rupturing.

Keep up the good work Lupin!! 🐾

Day 12 we have Margot.

Margot is a beautiful Huskador who has arthritis in her right elbow and shoulder, so she comes for a swim with us weekly. With the help of her squeaky octopus and not so squeaky ball, we enable greater mobility of her forelimbs during her swims.
Swimming is great for promoting mobility in dogs with arthritis and forelimb isssues. The warm water relaxes the muscles and provides a therapeutic relief for those joints, aswell as the weightless exercise providing pressure free movement.

Day 11 we have the beautiful Maple.

Maple had treatment with us a couple of years ago following a hip replacement surgery.
Now 5 years old, she is back with an intermittent limp on her forelimb. Maple goes in the underwater treadmill for controlled exercise with high water to support her joints.
We ease those tense muscles with massage and stretches, aswell as encouraging correct weight bearing and strengthening of her limbs.

Whilst exercise has to be limited at home for now, it also provides this young girls working brain with some mental stimulation too!! Keep up the amazing work Maple 🍁
