CSV® (created by American Sadie Nardini) is a fresh, modern & non-linear approach to yoga that is intuitive as w

ell as great fun. It includes Eastern and Western philosophy and influenced by different styles of Yoga. CSV® uses next generation anatomy, biomechanics, physics, myofascial muscle meridian system and fitness. CSV® includes a system called the '4 foundations' and the 'wave' to direct energy up and along the deep core line of the body to improve the effectiveness into transitions and postures, and to express more fully with ease and invite more space into the body. CSV® isn't a 'one size fits all' as it allows for different body shapes and sizes to benefit. Poses and transitions can be modified or intensified depending on the the levels of fitness, age and ability of a student who is then encouraged to navigate what helps their body feel fully supported. A great emphasis of the class is to release outer body tightness . This is achieved in the way of strengthening along the whole body core and helping to rebalance a relationship between muscle fascia and joints. CSV® utilises the most effective breath method that will help to release and support in movement, strengthening the core and releasing any unwanted blocked energy to flow more freely. CSV® moves away from the predictable and the linear patterns of traditional yoga and instead embraces movement that is intuitive, joyous and sets us free to flourish. You literally can't get anything 'wrong' as you are encouraged to move in your own way to the own rhythm of your breath and body. When practiced regularly, this system can revolutionise our sense of movement, space and awareness, not just on the mat but in everyday life also. By applying the 4 foundations that are key to this practice you can expect to get stronger, more agile, improve mobility, less aches and pains, increased fitness levels, a release of feel good endorphins and a more harmonious and happy nervous system.

Level 1 ✅ completed. Plenty of practice still do work on but loved this!! An intelligent course that really resonated with me. This is because I spent many years as a Fit Pro teaching group exercise and doing PTs and having that grounding has helped me understand it .Getting more strength, mobility, flexibility, improving aches and pains, increasing range of motion, AND putting your mind into your muscles is one of the KEYS to success for a stronger and more resilient body. Strong, sweaty BUT safe and allowing flows that empower you & prepares your tissues to create lasting gains in all areas of health! 🙌

And will be for the long haul yet!!

After 45 many women struggle to love themselves. It’s a crushing world we live in…and some women at this age begin to pine for their youth and energy and identity again. We are BUSY and juggling many plates. It’s easy to forget about ourselves!!

Please DONT despair, or worse still…disappear!!

This is a great transformation and transition to greater things. Challenges will come and go as we know. This is how we keep moving forward. 🥰

And f**k everyone else who says your too old, too overweight, too unfit or ‘you are past it’!!

Yoga isn’t about fitting into shapes. It’s honouring who you are and your own story. You ARE yoga already…it’s just a name…a buzz word…a ‘thing’ that many feel is above them and out of their reach!

☀️Versions of a side angle pose. There is not one pose here that is ‘better’ than the other! We just have to STOP and think, see and feel . Trying to ‘fit’our body into a yoga pose that doesn’t genuinely promote longevity in our body AND that causes pain isn’t healthy! 😩This is outdated teaching! We aren’t robots and not ‘mechanical beings’. We choose our option based on our body make up, our life story , our connective tissue spaces AND honour our flaws! 😵‍💫Don’t EVER force your body into a pose because some teacher ( or another student said )‘this is the way’! 😡( based on text books). They shouldn’t even try to manually grab you or place your hips somewhere or push your feet out. Boundaries…this can and has caused great harm on students’ bodies that can’t be undone!🫣🫣
✅Instead, maintain pelvis, rib and skull stacking ✅Take ownership of YOUR BODY as only you can feel with practice and the art of slowing down ✅bend limbs to allow space in the body where necessary using ground reaction forces ✅Work from centre, your powerhouse deep inside of you. ✅Find YOUR UNIQUE EXPRESSION 🙌 ❌NOT WHATS IN A YOGA Pose anatomy TEXT BOOK! Rock your yoga poses with authenticity and strength & EASE . Personally for me I HATE putting my hand on the floor due to a tight thoracic( mid back) and wonky hips. There’s no way in hell I’m going to go there either now or in the future. There is NO SHAME in using Yoga blocks!! They are MAGIC when all else fails! I’m happy with that. After all, Yoga was not made for women’s bodies!! 😊😊✅🙏🥰🙌

Opening the side body feels delicious for me. 🥰 Opening up the lateral line ( two Myofascial Meridian lines either side of the body) that cross-cross up the side of body to allow rotation & to stabilise us in walking motion. The ribs get a nice opening here reaching into the those tight spots such as the waist, QL ( Quadratus Lumborum muscle at side of lower back) Keep the head lifted to benefit from the stretch as so to lengthen the neck and relaxation of shoulder. You could do a few rounds of movement like circling top arm down then up and bending knees to initiate movement, eventually landing into your beautiful unique expression. Great for a focus of breath into the side rib cage. 🙌

Carrying the weight of the world depletes our entire body of energy. Open your arms wide as I am here and feel your chest, lungs, diaphragm , belly open & expand. Like a welcoming yawn 🥱 as you stretch open wide 🥰to breathe deeply. Expanding like this could be the ONE time you just let go & notice something shift within you. It may also feel uncomfortable & vulnerable for some at first, but with regular movements such as this will open our hearts, invite compassion for ourselves & others. Our superficial front line of connective tissue along the whole front body gets tight and cranky…guarding us against harm. Take the first step today to FEEL inside and out, to chip away our hard shells and invite a softeness. The shifts are profound towards healing, improvement of breath awareness, circulation, health, vitality improvement of our physiology, and life force itself. Expand as the deep blue ocean 🌊 🦋💙🦋

Look after your feet!🦶 They support your whole body they take us to places far and wide. So many of us abuse our feet by squashing them into narrow shoes. This and so many other reasons why many of us have foot issues and in the West it is more apparent compared to Eastern cultures . It’s super important not to rely on cushioning supportive shoes as all this will do is weaken the structural integrity and strength of the whole foot and will have a knock on effect on the rest of the body. Strengthening as well as allowing the toes to ‘spread’ out and relax helps avoid conditions of the foot/ankles/toes AND the rest of the body. Walk barefoot where you can with easeful gait and get to really’feel’ your feet taking every bit of awareness to the foot as you walk. How does it feel? There are bound to be asymmetries. Do this as often if you can without tightening or gripping your breath. All with absolute ease. When performing yoga avoid too many static long hold stretches that can often weaken areas and opt for instead dynamic stretching and strengthening, mobility & focusing on more support throughout your whole core from foot upwards as you move from once space to the next. . An exercise to try is to scrunch up the inner arches of the foot while standing can strengthen the plantar fascia ( foot core at base/sole). To do this relax toes and imagine drawing your big toe mounds towards the heel a few times. Don’t tense or tighten toes ( it’s tricky but keep practicing)About 10 reps.
🦶When you perform your standing yoga postures..make sure that you are REALLY routed down towards the Earth with your feet in a firm BUT relaxed way. Big toe mounds and centre of the heel connection. This sends a positive and powerful message up the deep core chain. So many people grip the toes as though they are clawing the Earth to hang on in standing balance poses. This increases tensions and causes more discomfort and imbalances through the whole chain. Get your feet functioning well and enjoy different ways to work the calves, ankles, whole of the foot. If you want to restore calm in your body, physically, mentally and emotionally than a fast sweaty yoga practice isn’t always going to hit the spot. Yes yoga is great for strengthening and flexibility gains, but if all you do is rush through vinyasa yoga practices you may be missing those beautiful subtler punctuations for overall health . . If your lifestyle is hectic, you have aches and pains and your mind is racing, you may want to mix your practices up and include some slower more mindful movements. This isn’t about slowing down your sun salutations but a deep listening within, pausing and tuning into subtleties that fast practices can’t reach. I’m enjoying the more subtle sides now after fitness yoga for years. I still enjoy my intense exercises, but mixing up things is key. Nothing quite hits the spot as nervous system down regulation for quietening the mind and bringing clarity to your whole life that extends far and wide 🙏🌸
