Giving thanks for a productive week in Kaduna, Nigeria, as we work to open the Sabon Rai Novō Community in 2026.
We spent time at an IDP camp, hearing the devastating stories of men, women and children who have fled their homes as a result of violence and persecution. Addiction flourishes in these communities by offering traumatised and hopeless people a sense of relief and escape.
In the city, we sat with those who themselves are gripped by addiction, listening to stories that stirred our desire to create safe places where they can heal from past hurts and be prepared for bright futures.
We also met with senior officials from Kaduna State Bureau for Substance Abuse Prevention and Treatment and NDLEA Nigeria and received their endorsement for Novo’s work.
As we travel home, we’re incredibly thankful for Ejikeme McBishops Ogueji for his expertise, wise leadership and gracious hospitality.
