👁️ Diabetic Retinopathy Screening Could Save Your Sight! 👁️

If you have diabetes, regular eye screening is essential — even if your vision feels fine.

🛑 Haven’t been screened in a while?

Now’s the time to book! Diabetic retinopathy can develop without symptoms, and early detection is key to preventing sight loss.

✅ Why screening matters:

Detects damage before you notice any changes
Early treatment can prevent up to 90% of diabetes-related blindness
It’s quick, painless, and free
📅 Who should get screened?

Everyone aged 12 and over with Type 1 or Type 2 diabetes
📍 How to get screened:

Contact your local screening venue.
Orrell Opticians (Whitby Road) – 0151 355 1077

Boots Opticians (Marina Drive) – 0151 357 2464

Specsavers (Cheshire Oaks) – 0151 318 9941

Book your appointment at your local clinic
Go to your screening — it takes just 30 minutes
👁️ Don’t risk your sight. If it’s been a while since your last screening, book today.

📢Important information about weight loss medications
(Mounjaro, Wegovy, Saxenda, Ozempic, Tirzepatide, Semaglutide, Rybelsus and others)

We understand there is a lot of interest in these medications and want to keep everyone informed:

NHS prescriptions:
Please do not contact the practice to ask if you are eligible for Mounjaro (or similar medicines) on the NHS.
We are proactively reviewing our patient records against the latest NHS eligibility criteria and will be in touch directly with anyone who meets these criteria.

Private prescriptions:
We’re unable to provide appointments or advice about:
• Whether you are eligible for private (non-NHS) Mounjaro, Wegovy, Saxenda, etc.
• Starting these medicines privately
• Managing side effects from private prescriptions

For this type of support, please speak directly with your private provider who prescribed the medication.

If you experience concerning or severe side effects - such as severe abdominal pain, persistent vomiting or anything you feel might be an emergency - please call 111, 999, or attend A&E immediately.

Thank you very much for your understanding and for helping us keep our phone lines and appointments free for those who need NHS care.

📢 Measles Cases Are on the Rise – Protect Yourself and Your Family! 🛡️

Measles is a highly contagious illness, but it’s preventable with the MMR vaccine (Measles, Mumps, and Rubella).

If you or your child have not yet received the MMR vaccine, or you're unsure about your vaccination status, please contact the surgery to check and book your appointment.

✅ The MMR vaccine is safe, effective, and free on the NHS.
✅ Two doses offer the best protection.

Let’s work together to keep our community healthy and stop the spread of measles.
