❗❕ EMERGENCY ALERT ❗❕

On Sunday 7th September 2025, at 3pm, the government will be sending out a test emergency alert. The test is checking that the system works. You do not need to take any action when this happens.

Emergency alerts can be sent to smart phones and tablets to provide a warning in life threatening emergencies. The emergency alerts in this instance, will include life saving information.

The government does not need to know your mobile number, or location for these alerts to be sent out.

Your mobile may make:
- Loud Siren Sound for 10 seconds.
- Vibrate for 10 seconds.
- Read the alert outline.

The alerts should be kept on to provide emergency warnings in life threatening situations, BUT some people may need to turn these of for safety reasons, for example, domestic abuse victims may need to turn the alerts off for any hidden phones.

Today has been a day for update training. 👩‍🏫

Here at New Day Care, we believe that having staff members who are knowledgeable and have great skill sets ensures that our service users receive exceptional care & support.

We have our very own in-house trainer, Rosie. Rosie designs and creates the training provided to give our carers the most out the training days, wanting each team member to walk away learning something new that they can integrate into their role. The training days aren't just sitting behind a desk listening, they are interactive and get those attending involved in different learning activities and role plays.

When it comes to Moving & Handling of people, and Basic Life Support, these are skills that need to be learnt hands on, with guidance and support from others, and we generate this by completing the practical elements of our training in-house.

Our training aims to be useful, informative and good fun, with hand-on elements to learning. We receive great feedback on our training courses.

🙅 Anaphylaxis

" A staggering 44% of British adults now suffer from at least one allergy and the number of sufferers is on the rise, growing by around 2 million between 2008 and 2009 alone."

Allergy UK statistics also show that between March 2013 and February 2014, 20,318 people where admitted to hospital with allergies, 19.2% of the emergency admissions where from anaphylactic reactions.

Anaphylaxis is a life threatening reaction, it happens very quickly and can be caused by

❓Did you know, all of our staff members receive training on Anaphylaxis, including the signs and symptoms, how to respond and on our Induction Training, we use a training Auto-Injector. This ensures that our staff members have the best knowledge and skill to react in an emergency situation.

💉 MEASLES 💉

The NHS England have stated reported cases of Measles within the UK are on the rise.

"Measles is an infection that spreads very easily & can cause serious problems. Having the MMR vaccine is the best way to prevent it." - NHS ENGLAND.

Signs & Symptoms of Measles include:

❗Cold-like symptoms first, inc. high temperature, red, sore, watery eyes, blocked or runny nose.
❗A rash that appears a few days after the cold-like symptoms. This usually starts on the face / behind the ears before spreading to the trunk of the body.
❗Some may get spots in the mouth and inside of the cheeks that last a few days.

The best protection against Measles is to have two doses of the MMR Vaccine. These can be scheduled by calling your GP, and at any age you can catch up with these vaccinations.

✨ COMPLIMENT ✨

We recently received a compliment from an Occupational Therapist about Jemsheer. The OT stated that when present in one of our service users home, Jemsheer was attentive and respectful to the service user and his wife, plus was very helpful in allowing the OT's to complete their role.

What wonderful feedback. Thank you Jemsheer, for representing our ethos and being so caring in nature.
