Turns out “just a quick look” isn’t always that quick 👀

Here’s the thing: vaginal exams are always optional.
You can say no, delay, or ask why it’s needed — you don’t have to say yes just because it’s offered.

Feeling more informed before birth means you’re less likely to freeze in the moment.

Oxytocin — that gorgeous love hormone — is released when you cuddle, kiss, laugh, feel safe, or even stroke your bump. 🩵

It’s the same hormone that powers your contractions during labour. So the more calm, connected, and cared-for you feel… the more smoothly your body can do what it’s built to do.

That’s why environment, support, and mindset aren’t “nice extras” — they’re key ingredients for a physiological birth.

Knowing the difference between early labour and active labour can make a huge difference to how calm and confident you feel.

👉 Early labour can be slow, stop–start, and frustrating — but it’s not wasted time. It’s your body doing the groundwork.
👉 Active labour is when things ramp up: contractions are stronger, closer together, and baby is truly on the way.

Neither stage means you’re “failing” — they’re both normal, and having the right tools + support can help you feel more in control.
