Did you know that pregnancy hormones can make your skin way more sensitive to the sun?

We're talking burnt in 10 minutes while wearing SPF 30 and standing in the shade kind of sensitive.

Here's why:

🧪 Your hormones — especially oestrogen — ramp up melanin production. That’s the pigment that gives you that “glow”… or, if you’re unlucky, a bit of patchy pigmentation known as melasma (a.k.a. the “mask of pregnancy”).

🔥 Combine that with thinner, stretchier skin, and suddenly your lovely park stroll turns into a full-on UV hazard.

But don’t worry — you don’t have to become a hermit:

🌿 Pop on a wide-brimmed hat and pretend you're a 1950s film star
🧴 Use a good pregnancy-safe SPF every day (yes, even in the UK)
👒 Stick to the shady spots when you can
👚 Light long sleeves = stylish and skin-saving

Pregnancy is full of surprises. Becoming a vampire-in-training wasn’t on your bingo card, was it?

But it’s all part of the ride — and I talk about all these little need-to-knows (with a good dose of humour) in my hypnobirthing courses too.

Pregnancy makes you more flexible. Literally.

Say hello to relaxin — the hormone that’s softening your ligaments, loosening up your pelvis, and sneakily turning you into a human slinky.

Yes, that’s why your hips feel like they’re being held together by warm jelly.
Yes, that’s why your yoga teacher is suspiciously impressed.
