🌿🐾 Who can spot the ‘Jaguar’ hiding in the greenery?
My grey cat has found the coolest place in the garden—like a tiger in the jungle.

In Five Elements theory, the Tiger represents courage, power, and the dynamic energy of Wood. But even tigers know when to rest!
Like the big cats, listen to nature’s wisdom in this heat—move slowly, stay shaded, and conserve your Qi. 🐅🌬️🌞

🔍 Acupuncture or Dry Needling?
Know the Difference. Choose Safety.

Not all needle treatments are the same.
🔹 Acupuncturists registered with the British Acupuncture Council (BAcC) spend over 3 years in university-level training, learning over 360 classical points, anatomy, and safe needling techniques.
🔹 Dry needling is often taught over a single weekend—or worse, learned online.

⚠️ Would you trust someone with just 12 hours of training to insert needles into your body?

Look for practitioners on the Professional Standards Authority (PSA) Accredited Register—like me—who are fully insured, accountable, and committed to ongoing professional development.

🎯 Your health is too important to leave to chance.

📍 I’m a BAcC registered acupuncturist and proud to be listed on the PSA Accredited Register.

✅ Choose qualified. Choose safe. Choose professional acupuncture.

How I Discovered Acupuncture — and Why I Do What I Do

I first found acupuncture because of my own back pain after an accident.
It wasn’t instant — but it worked.
Gently. Steadily.
It got me out of pain, back on my feet, and back to enjoying life again.

I was sceptical at first.
Needles? Really?
We tend to associate needles with pain — blood tests, injections, anaesthetic.
But acupuncture needles aren’t like that. They’re super-fine — as thin as a strand of hair — and most people barely feel a thing.

What I discovered is that acupuncture isn’t just a treatment — it’s a system of healing rooted in thousands of years of wisdom and backed by modern research.

It helps pain, yes.
But also grief. Stress. Anxiety. Sleep issues. Hormonal balance. Fertility. Menopause. Gut health.
And it offers genuine hope for people living with neurological conditions like Parkinson’s — I see it in my patients every week: less tremor, clearer thinking, steadier movement, improved mood and facial expression.

Most of all, acupuncture offers something many people haven’t had in a long time:
Relief. Hope. And the feeling of being truly heard.

If you’re struggling with chronic pain, fatigue, emotional overwhelm, or just feeling like no one “gets it” — I want you to know:
You’re not alone.
You do know your own body.
And you deserve to be heard, supported, and gently guided toward healing.

I’m here when you’re ready.

In light of a recent news story about women and space travel — we thought we should share a story about Chang’e (嫦娥), the Chinese Goddess of the Moon.

In Chinese mythology, Chang’e is the Moon Goddess. Long ago, the Earth was scorched by ten suns. Chang’e’s husband, the archer Yi, saved the world by shooting down nine of them. As a reward, he was given an elixir of immortality, but he gave it to Chang’e for safekeeping.

He did not want to live forever without his beloved wife and so gave the elixir to her for safekeeping. However, Yi’s apprentice Fengmeng wanted the elixir for himself. He tried to force Chang’e to give it to him. In order for him to not steal it, Chang’e quickly drank it.

She was so beside herself with grief at the thought of someday having to live without her husband so she flew upward to the moon and remained there for eternity.

All Chinese lunar probes are named after her, and during the 1969 Moon landing, astronaut Michael Collins joked they’d look out for Chang’e.

The April Lyrids are a meteor shower lasting from about April 15 to April 29 each year.

The Ancient Chinese not only observed but also interpreted meteor showers as celestial omens, often associated with significant events or warnings.

The Lyrids outburst of 687 BC was the earliest known recorded meteor shower. They observed what they described as “stars falling like rain”.

Early Chinese records refer to comets as:
✨beixing 孛星 (sparkling star)
💫 huixing 彗星 (broom star)

The broomstick here is a metaphor for the tail and the broomhead the head of the comet.

Chinese astronomers were the first to observe that comet tails point away from the sun. They knew this by at least 635 AD, many centuries before the phenomenon was observed in the West.

Other names for comets include:
saoxing 掃星 (sweeping star)
tianchan 天攙 (heavenly intermingler)
fengxing 篷星 (sailing star)
changxing 長星 (long star)
and zhuxing 燭星 (candle-flame star)

The Lyrid Meteor shower peaks on the 22nd of April this year and will be visible by the naked eye.

Let us know if you are out star spotting this week!

My husband and I were out at the Snake Pit in Aspull ( we had taken one of our sons out there for his wrestling training). Husband says , “oh the stars are really visible tonight”, so we get out of the car to stargaze. I noticed a little cloud off to my left, which I thought was odd, given that the rest of the sky was clear. The cloud started to move and seemed to have light coming from within it. For a moment I thought it looked like moonlight coming from behind it. It then became something that we couldn’t identify and it made no sound, as the light moved (flew slowly), with a vapour that swirled around it.
