At Ashi Therapies, I encourage people to listen to their body.

Here are a few simple tips that can transform your health:

💋 Acne around the mouth?
➡ Could be digestion + stomach heat. Check what you’re eating!

🌟 Dizzy when standing up?
➡ Signs of blood deficiency. Nourish with iron-rich, warming foods.

💦 No sweat during workouts?
➡ Your pores & Qi aren’t opening properly. Try adding cinnamon & ginger to your meals.

😮‍💨 Frequent sighing?
➡ Liver Qi stagnation. Your body is literally trying to move stuck energy.

🍽 Feeling drained after eating?

Did you know your body has 12 main meridians?

In Traditional Chinese Medicine, meridians are pathways of energy (Qi) that run throughout the body - connecting everything together.

Each of these 12 meridians is linked to a specific organ system, including:

• Lung
• Large Intestine
• Stomach
• Spleen
• Heart
• Small Intestine
• Bladder
• Kidney
• Pericardium
• Triple Burner (San Jiao)
• Gallbladder
• Liver

These aren’t just physical organs — they represent entire systems that influence how your body functions.

When energy flows smoothly through these meridians, your body feels balanced.

When there’s a blockage or imbalance, it can show up as pain, stress, fatigue, digestive issues, hormonal imbalances... and more.

This is where acupuncture comes in

By stimulating specific points along these meridians, we help restore flow, support the related organ system, and bring the body back into balance.

It’s not just about treating symptoms - it’s about addressing the root cause.

If you’re feeling out of sync, your body might be asking for balance ⚖️

Common symptoms of Liver Qi stagnation are:

• anger, irritability and frustration
• menstrual cycle irregularities, pms and pain
• feeling fullness in the abdomen
• headaches and migraines
• histamine imbalances
• allergies
• pain in or under ribs
• bitter taste in the mouth
• eye problems

Liver Qi stagnation means that the Liver energy is stuck. This is the most common imbalance I see in clinic. This is the result of improper diet, staying up late, repressed emotions, excess stimulant use, toxin overload, medication, etc.

To help move Liver Qi (energy), acupuncture, movement, and activities like meditation and also creative activities are recommended.

Foods like lightly sauteed leafy greens, warm and fresh foods, burdock, citrus, ginger, all help Liver function.

Diet-wise, avoid greasy, fried, and foods that are too spicy or alcohol as well as stimulants. Also, avoid processed foods, excessively cold drinks or foods or refined sugars.

Are you taking Mounjaro or Wegovy?

From a Chinese medicine (TCM) perspective, GLP-1 medications change the conversation around hunger and digestion.

They decrease appetite and slow gastric emptying, which in TCM translates to weaker transformation and transportation of Spleen and Stomach Qi.

While GLP-1 medication can reduce excess accumulation, it can also weaken the body’s ability to transform food into usable energy if not supported properly, leading to fatigue, digestive sluggishness, and over time, potential depletion.

That’s why Chinese medicine support becomes essential.

When appetite is lower and digestion is slower, preserving muscle and metabolic strength is key to protecting your Qi.

Gentle strength work like Pilates or resistance training helps tonify Spleen Qi, maintain muscle and bone density, and keep the body resilient.

In Chinese medicine, longevity isn’t just about reducing intake, it’s about sustaining the body’s capacity to transform, nourish, and stay strong 💪🏻

Acupuncture can not only help with this but for anybody not wishing to take this medication, acupuncture can also be used to support your weight loss journey 🩵

Craving or eating too much sugar?

Sugar cravings aren’t just about willpower — in Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM), they’re often a sign your body is asking for balance 🍃

In TCM, a strong desire for sugar is linked to the Spleen system (your digestion + energy). When it’s out of balance, you might feel:

• Constant sugar cravings
• Low energy or brain fog
• Bloating or sluggish digestion
• Emotional ups and downs

So what can you do?

✨ Nourish, don’t deprive

Instead of cutting everything out, gently support your body with naturally sweet, nourishing foods like:

• Roasted sweet potatoes
• Dates in moderation
• Oats and whole grains
• Root vegetables

These help satisfy cravings while strengthening your digestive system.

✨ Eat warm, cooked meals

Cold and raw foods can weaken digestion. Warming, cooked meals are easier to process and help reduce those intense sugar urges.

✨ Balance your meals

Include protein, healthy fats, and fibre to keep blood sugar steady and cravings under control.

✨ Support with acupuncture

Acupuncture can help regulate digestion, reduce cravings, and restore balance to your body’s energy. Many people notice fewer cravings, better energy, and improved mood after treatment.

Your cravings are communication, not failure. When you listen and respond with care, your body finds its way back to balance 🤍

If you’re struggling with sugar cravings, we’re here to help.

Struggling to sleep? You’re not alone. 🌙

Many clients come into Ashi Therapies feeling exhausted, restless, and stuck in a cycle of broken sleep.

After a course of acupuncture, they noticed a real shift — falling asleep faster, staying asleep longer, and waking up feeling more refreshed.

Acupuncture works by calming the nervous system, reducing stress, and helping the body return to its natural rhythm — making it a powerful, natural support for sleep issues.
But here’s the honest truth: what you do after treatment matters just as much.

The best advice I can give?

📵 Reduce screen time before bed.

Phones, tablets, and TVs emit blue light, which can suppress melatonin — the hormone your body produces to regulate sleep.

Melatonin is what signals to your brain that it’s time to wind down. When it’s disrupted, your body stays in “awake mode” longer than it should.

✨ Tips for a more peaceful night’s sleep:

• Switch off screens at least 60 minutes before bed
• Dim the lights in the evening to support melatonin production
• Keep a consistent sleep schedule (yes, even on weekends)
• Try a warm bath or gentle stretching to relax the body
• Keep your bedroom cool, dark, and quiet
• Limit caffeine in the afternoon

Acupuncture can guide your body back into balance — but small daily habits are what keep you there.

If sleep is something you’re struggling with, you don’t have to just “put up with it 😴

🌙 Sleep the TCM Way with Ashi Therapies 🌿

In Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM), sleep isn’t just rest — it’s essential time for your body to repair, rebalance, and restore vital energy (Qi).

The timing of your sleep matters just as much as the amount.

✨ Here’s your guide to optimal sleep according to TCM:

🕰️ Best Sleep Times & Why

• 9pm–11pm (Triple Burner / San Jiao): Your body begins winding down — ideal time to relax and prepare for sleep

• 11pm–1am (Gallbladder): Decision-making energy restores — staying awake may lead to poor judgment and fatigue

• 1am–3am (Liver): Deep detox and emotional processing — disrupted sleep here may cause irritability or stress

• 3am–5am (Lungs): Breath and grief processing — waking here can signal emotional imbalance

• 5am–7am (Large Intestine): Natural wake-up phase — supports elimination and starting fresh

💤 Ideal Sleep Duration

• Adults: 7–9 hours
• Best window: 10pm–6am or 10:30pm–6:30am

⚖️ Good Sleep (Balanced Qi)
✔ Fall asleep easily before 11pm
✔ Sleep deeply through the night
✔ Wake refreshed and clear-headed
✔ Dreaming is calm and not excessive

⚠️ Poor Sleep (Qi Imbalance)
✖ Difficulty falling asleep (often Heart or Liver imbalance)
✖ Waking between 1am–3am (Liver stress, emotional stagnation)
✖ Night sweats or vivid dreams (Yin deficiency)
✖ Morning fatigue despite long sleep

🌿 Ashi Tip:

Create a calming nighttime ritual — dim lights, avoid screens, sip warm herbal tea, and allow your mind to settle before 10pm. Your body clock thrives on consistency.
Sleep isn’t a luxury — it’s medicine. 🌙

Toothache and stuck waiting for a dentist appointment? 😣

In Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM), tooth pain is often linked to excess heat or inflammation in the stomach or large intestine channels.

While you’re waiting to be seen, here are a few gentle tips that may help ease discomfort:

✨ Sip on cool (not ice-cold) water to help clear heat
✨ Avoid sugary, spicy, and very hot foods that can aggravate pain
✨ Try gently massaging the area between your thumb and index finger (a common acupressure point for pain relief)
✨ Keep stress low—tension can make pain feel worse

Acupuncture can be a powerful, natural way to support relief from toothache. It works by reducing inflammation, improving circulation, and calming the nervous system—helping to ease pain while your body restores balance.

If you’re struggling and need support while you wait for your dental appointment, we’re here to help 💛

🌿✨ Ancient Wisdom, Simple Remedy ✨🌿

Did you know that in Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM), something as humble as red onion skins can support your health? ❤️🧅

Instead of tossing them away, try boiling red onion skins to create a nourishing, healing tea.

🌱 Why it’s good for you (according to TCM):

Red onion skins are believed to help:

• Support circulation and move “Qi” (energy)
• Reduce internal heat and inflammation
• Strengthen the body’s natural defenses
• Promote detoxification

They’re also rich in natural antioxidants like quercetin, which may support heart health and immunity.

🍵 How to make it:

Rinse the skins of 1–2 red onions thoroughly

Add to a pot with 2–3 cups of water

Bring to a boil, then simmer for 10–15 minutes

Strain and sip warm (you can add ginger or honey for taste)

💡 Tip: Drink 2–3 times a week as part of a balanced wellness routine.

Simple. Natural. Effective. 🌸

At Ashi Therapies, we believe healing doesn’t have to be complicated—sometimes it starts in your kitchen
