Cheek augmentation đź’‰
What are cheek fillers ?
Cheek fillers are an injectable treatment that use approved dermal fillers to sculpt and add volume to the midface, enhancing cheekbones and creating a more lifted, defined look, as well as ironing out fine lines .
The most commonly used cheek fillers are hyaluronic acid-based. Hyaluronic acid, a substance naturally found in our bodies, is a powerful humectant—a single hyaluronic acid molecule can attract and hold up to 1,000 times its weight in water.
How does it work?
Cheek fillers work in the same way that dermal fillers work in other areas of the face like the tear troughs or nasolabial folds: they temporarily add volume and sculpt the face. In the cheeks, this can create a more defined, contoured look that enhances your natural bone structure, or simply restore lost volume and plumpness to sagging cheeks.
When will I see the results ?
Dermal fillers create instant results but the product can take a few days and upto 2 weeks before it settles and you see the best results.
How is it done ?
A numbing cream is applied to help reduce sensation in your face (this will take 20 minutes to set in) before any injections . The treatment itself is quick — 3 injections to either cheek — and relatively painless. Once you’re done, you will be given an ice pack to help soothe any discomfort or swelling.
How long do they last ?
6-12 months
Risks/side effects ?
Cheek fillers are considered a safe treatment, but they're not risk-free. The most common side effects are the same ones you can expect with all injectable treatments: bruising, swelling, and redness at the injection site. All of these side effects usually disappear on their own within a few days of your treatment.
Other risks include an allergic reaction to the product used (rare with HA fillers) and an infection at the injection site.
More serious risks include tissue necrosis (which can occur if your injector accidentally injects the filler into a blood vessel, a complication called vascular occlusion). Although this is rare it is why it is important to seek a medically qualified practitioner to deal with any possible side effects.
