During a Reflexology session aiming to improve mental well-being I talk about this technique quite a lot. We tend to push down and suppress our emotions we don’t want to feel. Without being released these negative emotions are likely to cause a dis-ease within the physical body and emotionally still have power over us through behaviour patterns and thoughts.
By working on the reflex areas of the Amygdala and the Hippocampus we are focusing on the association between a memory, the attached emotion(s) and emotional reactions.
This reflexology technique together with mindfulness work is an incredibly powerful combination for release.
We are supposed to have feelings and emotions. They are there to be felt. Except them fully without judgement but don’t attached yourself to them.
If you feel you would benefit from a Reflexology session to support mental well-being send me a DM. ✨❤️

A popular question I get asked during a massage treatment is ‘What exactly is a knot’ so i thought I’d do this post with a few facts about muscle knots, known medically as Myofascial Trigger Points.

What causes a knot?
Muscle knots are mainly caused from;
Overuse of muscles
Repetitive movements
Heavy lifting
Poor posture
Emotional stress
Injury

How are they created?
Muscle fibres stick together due to stress on the muscle or prolonged contraction
Metabolic waste will build
Blood flow is restricted
Movement is restricted

Where are knots found?
Muscle knots are most commonly found in the neck, shoulders, lower back and calf’s but they can develop anywhere in the body where there is muscle or facia.

11 years as a therapist and still learning 👩🏻‍🎓
Passion and success comes from never becoming stagnant in your knowledge and treatments. There is always more to learn, always ways to continually grow and develop. The more I learn from different therapies and ancient healing practices the more effective my treatments can be.
Yesterday I completed the next level of Korean Hand Therapy delivered by the award winning international Doctor/ Professor of Traditional East Asian Medicine Dr.Jong Baik.

Korean Hand Therapy is an ancient microsystem therapy that works to help balance and strengthen the meridian channels, systems, organs and blood to aid in healing and prevention.

Fire Cupping Therapy has been used for thousands of years to help prevent illness, detoxify organs and create a natural flow.

This therapy involves the placement of heated glass cups on the skin which creates a vacuum. The skin and muscle layer is then drawn into the cup. The suction and warmth has a dramatic effect on muscles, nerves, joints and the immune system by moving blood and lymph.

Benefits include;
⭐️Helps to release deep muscular tension
⭐️Moves stagnation and helps fluids
⭐️Relieves inflammation
⭐️Nervous system sedation
⭐️Stretches muscle and connective tissue
⭐️Helps to balance out organs

Cupping marks (skin discolouration) represents your body’s level of blood and Qi stagnation, toxin accumulation, or dampness accumulation. The color and pattern of the marks indicate how stagnant the area is. The darker the color, the greater the amount of stagnation.

When doing cupping sessions, we are aiming for healthy blood circulation, however, initially due to general wear and tear, past injuries, or the body not working to its full capacity, this isn’t always the case and the colour may appear darker.

The difference in the colour of the cupping marks can give us some insight to what’s happening inside your body.
