I try not to say “happy” on my work posts, because I know for so many of you it’s not the happiest of days ❤️‍🩹

But I wanted to post a few of the lovely ladies who come to my classes that show me some beautiful examples of motherhood every weekday 🫶

In world where so many children have hardship, it warms my heart to see how many South Liverpool children are loved by their mums, stepmums, nans, grannies, aunties, childminders, nannies, friends of the family…

The reason for our unmistakable colours explained by our incredible founder, Dr Lin Day…

The colour BLUE is associated with the SEA and SKY. Both are constants in life and are therefore perceived as dependable, committed and trustworthy. Blue is also thought to increase social interactions and the inclination to play 🦋🐟🌎🌊🧊🏞💎🫆🪼🐬🐳💧

YELLOW is associated with the SUN (you may know our signature Baby Sensory song ‘Say Hello To The Sun’) and therefore shines with optimism, laughter, happiness, excitement, warmth and playfulness. Yellow also creates a bright sunny room and there is some evidence to suggest that yellow speeds up metabolism and stimulates the release of ‘feel-good‘ hormones 👑🐥🐝🌻☀️🍋🍯🌼⭐️💡

The combination of blue and yellow also provide a sense of balance 🟦🟨

Our little people have been so busy doing all of the chores for our mummies and nannies this week - most classes have ended with a lie down 🥱

By simply exploring objects such as pegs and sponges we are giving our little ones the stepping stones to understand the world around them 🧠

By the time they start school, we will have hopefully helped them to skilfully manipulate using their hands and fingers 🤚

I’ll be working afternoons again as of next week 💃

Thank you to everyone who has booked so far - I can’t wait to see you all after a long break while I’ve been slowly easing back into work ❤️‍🩹

Afternoons will run for 3 consecutive weeks costing £27 (cheaper if coming with twins or siblings once discounts have been applied) and can be booked on the website now 💻

Classes are 1-2pm 🕐

Yes, I can make 90% of toddlers sit down for a story (with the help of their grown ups) 🙌

Reading is a continuous process, which should begin in early infancy and continue throughout childhood 📖

Children learn to read by looking at books, pictures and listening to stories 👀 👂

The more words that children hear and understand, and the more experiences they have, the better they will be able to make sense of what they read 💡

👶 13-20 months
* Shows interest in illustrations and books
* Can turn the pages of a book with help
* Begins to relate pictures and gestures to objects

🧒 20 months - 3 years
* Has favourite stories
* Repeats words or phrases from familiar stories
* Listens to stories with increasing attention and recall
* Can turn the pages of a book alone

👧 3-4 years
* Adds voices for story characters
* Listens to and joins in with stories
* Shows awareness of the way stories are structured
* Suggests how the story might end

👱‍♀️ 4-5 years
* Enjoys an increasing range of books
* Tells stories through drawings and paintings
* May use fingers to point to words in familiar predictable books
* Uses vocabulary and forms of speech that are increasingly influenced by experiences of books
