Old ankle sprain still causing problems? It’s rarely just about the ankle 🧐

After a sprain, balance, reaction time, landing control and confidence can all drop off — which is why so many athletes keep re-injuring it months or even years later!

With this sprinter, we focused on:
• Single leg stability
• Proprioception + reaction work
• Landing mechanics
• Sprint-specific control
• Building trust back into the ankle

Rehab should prepare you for sport, not just standing on a wobble board forever 🤹‍♀️

If your ankle still feels ‘not quite right’, there’s usually a reason! You know where to find me 🖤

I’ve spent a lot of the last month reminding my patients that consistency>intensity ❤️

This time of year, life starts to kick off again as the sunshine reappears. We get busy, plans and weekend trips creep in and before you know it, you’re back to the same pain or same injury you spent so much time (and money!) getting treatment and an action plan for 🤦‍♀️

Little and often always, and if you need an accountability partner for a bit of support, that’s all part of my job - not yours!

Naomh 💚

❤️ Feb Wrap-Up ❤️

I choose a word to live by every year instead of specific resolutions, and the word of 2026 is ‘Freedom’ 🙌

So I want to hold myself accountable and document how I’ve been living up to my word of the year!

Last year’s word was ‘Diligence’, and I threw myself into work because I wasn’t capable of much else pre-surgery. Now it’s time to nurture the other half of ‘Naomh The Sports Therapist’ - the me who isn’t a Sports Therapist & who needs to fill her cup to be the best version of me as a whole ❤️

Do any of you have a word you’d like to live by this year?

Most marathon injuries don’t happen because runners are “doing too much.”

They happen because recovery doesn’t match the load.

Every season I see the same pattern:
⬆️ Mileage increases
⬇️ Sleep quality drops
⬇️ Fueling becomes inconsistent
❌ Strength training disappears
⚠️ Niggles get ignored

Then 3–5 weeks before race day… something gives.

Marathon prep isn’t just about building fitness.
It’s about building tissue tolerance and managing fatigue.

If you’re training right now, ask yourself:
– Are you genuinely recovering between sessions?
– Are you strong enough for the mileage you’re running?
– Are you hoping that “tight calf” just goes away?

Save this as a checklist for the next 6–8 weeks.

And if something’s been niggling — sort it early.
Race day should feel exciting, not uncertain!

It’s nearly time.. 🍂🕯️
