People are still out there with a gastric band, getting food stuck, thinking regurgitation is just part and parcel of the BAND journey and that’s how the BAND works by physically STOPPING you eating.

NOT THE CASE GUYS this is called the ‘Red Zone’ Not a great place to be, won’t help you on your weight loss journey and likely will hinder your progress and could actually put your band at risk of slippage or erosion 🥺

Relieving ‘Red Zone’ symptoms is a must! And this is done by a quick and simple defill (doesn’t mean all the fluid needs to come out). Sometimes just 0.25-0.5ml can make all the difference!

It’s time to put a 🛑 stop to regurgitation, acid reflux, crap diet choices, pain on eating, night time issues and anxiety that comes with all these symptoms! Never mind the sick cups and poo bags that people are carrying around with them 🥺

Just had this update from one of my amazing ladies 🩷

Having horse riding lessons was just a bucket list dream 12 months ago - and here is Louise today living that dream 🤩

9 stone down and feeling a millions dollars 🐎

There is absolutely no stopping her now!! She tells me she is loving her new lease of life and building herself up to joining a gym next 💪🏻🙌🏻🫶🏻

Totally smashing it!!

She’s going to need a bigger bucket list at this rate 👏🏻👏🏻

Are you fed up getting food stuck in your Gastric Band?

The speed at which you eat is one of the main culprits!

By using a simple APP like “The Chewing Diet”. Can help you SLOW DOWN & CHEW MORE! and help minimise the stuck episodes and regurgitation 🥺

Other things to be mindful of is the amount you put on your fork 🍴
Use smaller cutlery and aim for your food bolus to be no bigger than a 20p piece (remember the opening to your stomach could be as narrow as your little finger!)

Set your timer on the app to 20 seconds chewing and 20 seconds between forkfuls.

DONT FORGET - your overall eating time should be monitored too. You are looking to be eating a side plate amount (6”) plate - in around 20mins

It might take you a little longer and typically that’s ok as long as you are sticking to the plate size, and doing well overall on your weight loss journey

If your portions are bigger than this and eating for 30mins or longer then reduce down to the size plate and see how you go. Those extra calories maybe not needed and could be hindering your progress 😣

Also a little recap on texture! Make sure your meals are a chewing challenge - soft slider foods won’t work your band as hard leaving you likely to eat more and not feel as full 🤨

Sometimes a little back to basics reminder can really help as having the band in can something sway you into developing bad habits that can sabotage your journey 😞

“Wow just had an appointment with Nic something I should have done a long time ago, my journey began on the 5November 2007 (yes 2007 60)
I have messed about for years being a fool to my self living on chocolate biscuits you name it, July 2024 | started on Wegovy and have lost 4 stone it had been a slow
journey compared to others, anyway I need to eat proper food such as good protein so l decided to have a defill today, I had no idea how many ML’s were in the band, turns out there were 7, I have had 3 taken out, which was totally painless and very quick in the expert hands of Nic, she totally puts you at ease and explains how to reconnect and re-educate your self with your band, I’m not saying my theory will work and if the weight piles on I will be having a fill !
But I need to try something, if your thinking about seeing Nic don’t hesitate, we paid a lot of money for these bands, make them work for your had earned cash” x

So yesterday my patient told me this - I “Wish I met you 15 years ago!” 🥹

The feeling was totally mutual 🫶🏻

I started up on my own a few years ago, having worked for the largest companies in Bariatric Surgery in the UK & Ireland over the years. The gastric band and how a patient needs the education & support became my life 🙌🏻

Doing a job you love really isn’t a job, even on those long train & car journeys week in week out - support is very much needed and this is my passion and goal to provide 🫶🏻

So NO matter how long you’ve had your band or how far disconnect you feel from it - it’s NEVER to late to reconnect 🙌🏻

Bands can last a long time, I have patients with bands almost 30 years old - still functioning and supporting well.

‘Giving up isn’t an option’ 💪🏻
