WATERLOO PARK HELD ITS ANNUAL 'WEAR IT PINK' FUNDRAISING EVENT ON FRIDAY 26 SEPTEMBER 2025
New Directions is very proud to tell you about Waterloo Park's fundraising event.
Everyone who attends the service and the staff team had a brilliant afternoon with a tombola, name the bears and raffles, not to mention the beautiful handmade cakes.
Everyone who attends and works at Waterloo Park donate all the prizes and contribute to the fundraising activities together. The gang at Waterloo Park announced an amazing £500 has been raised so far, which is a huge achievement and will make a big difference to MacMillan in enabling them to support more people through their cancer journey. CHEESE AND WINE TASTING AT WATERLOO PARK
Today we had a very enjoyable activity tasting wines and cheeses from around the world (non alcoholic). The activity had work sheets too, everyone had to score the wine they tasted. Later all all the 'tasters' designed their own wine labels whilst hiccupping!!!

THE CHIEF EXECUTIVE OF THE NATIONAL CARE FORUM VISITS CHASE HEYS AND NEW LEAF IN SOUTHPORT
As members of the National Care Forum (NCF), we were thrilled to welcome a visit from Professor Vic Rayner OBE, their Chief Executive
Everyone at Chase Heys and New Leaf gave Vic a warm welcome and enjoyed talking to her about their wonderful services.
Vic wanted to share this message with you all:

"It is always a privilege to spend time with NCF members who are delivering quality care and innovative services that are fundamental to the communities they serve. During our visit to Chase Heys it was really important to hear how constructively New Directions are working with system partners to deliver excellent reablement care within Sefton. Staff were very positive about how their expertise was recognised within multi-disciplinary team meetings, and how positively the therapy teams worked with frontline carers across the service.

Visiting New Leaf was similarly a breath of fresh air. A fantastic setting on the front at Southport which offered supported opportunities for people to develop skills in the horticulture sector. During our visit we were able to hear in detail about the inspiring changes that are being embedded through the New Directions Living Well programme. Huge thanks to the teams at both Chase Heys and New Leaf for taking time to share their passion for working creatively and constructively in the delivery of high quality care and support across Sefton."

WATERLOO PARK CELEBRATES DIWALI
Members who attend Waterloo Park celebrated the Hindu festival of Diwali. Everyone explored how their name was written in Tamil, thanks to our staff member AnnMarie whose lovely family are from Sri Lanka. Ann Marie also treated us to Sri Lanken teas and desserts.

On 30th June New Centre Stage took part in an acting workshop led by two local actors from Stage Door Theatre Trust. The workshop 'Add To Basket' was themed around people's Shopping Habits and we discussed what people like to spend their money on.
Are you an impulse buyer? Are you a Shopaholic? Do you like a good bargain?
The group discussed the process of how some clothing is made in factories, transported and distributed to shops. The group did some fantastic roleplay scenes to re-enact the process.
The group are looking forward to more from' Add to Basket' sometime in September.
