On 30th June New Centre Stage took part in an acting workshop led by two local actors from Stage Door Theatre Trust. The workshop 'Add To Basket' was themed around people's Shopping Habits and we discussed what people like to spend their money on.
Are you an impulse buyer? Are you a Shopaholic? Do you like a good bargain?
The group discussed the process of how some clothing is made in factories, transported and distributed to shops. The group did some fantastic roleplay scenes to re-enact the process.
The group are looking forward to more from' Add to Basket' sometime in September.

MATTHEW AT SIMONSCROFT IS QUITE THE CRAFTSMAN!
With the help of his support staff Matthew who lives at are Simonscroft in a supported living house, has replaced the gate at his allotment with one they have made. Matthew enjoys growing all different vegetables on his plot and shares them with his neighbours where he lives.

NEW LEAF IS HOSTING ITS SUMMER FAYRE
As the summer season approaches, we are pleased to announce that our summer Fayre will be on Friday 27th June. The gates will open at 11am and close at 3pm.
It will be a special occasion with hot chocolate, tea, coffee, cold drinks, hot dogs and homemade cakes. We will also have, the always the ever popular Tombola and raffle with lots of prizes available.
Everyone at New Leaf has worked extremely hard over the last few months, growing a large range of summer bedding plants from seed. We have also decided to work on the site and redecorate many of the areas, to make it a more pleasant environment for everyone. It’s a large area that has needed lots of hard work from all who attend but when you see it, I hope you agree the team have all done, a great job.
As well as a large range of plants we have made a selection of hanging baskets for sale along with a wonderful selection of craft items available.
All money raised will be used to support the New Leaf site and provide equipment and fun activities for those who attend.
Please try to attend and support our wonderful project on what will be a fun, enjoyable day.

DARREN AT SUPPORTED LIVING HAS GREEN FINGERS!!
Darren wanted to show everyone the vegetables he is growing in raised beds at home. He will be making some lovely, healthy meals for everyone.

BROOKDALE CELEBRATES CARER'S WEEK
On Friday June 13th Brookdale celebrated Carers' week with their Annual Strawberry Tea event. The carers of all the service users who attend the centre were invited for an afternoon of lively entertainment, involving a performance by singer Teresa Harper and some singing and dancing for everyone. The staff once again made the centre look exceptional and there was a delicious spread on offer that was tucked into with gusto after all the energy used in the dancing. MEET TWO OF OUR WONDERFUL VOLUNTEERS
Last week we celebrated Volunteer's Week. New Directions is privileged and grateful to have some fantastic volunteers within our workforce.
Meet two of our volunteers - first two photos are with Sam Hart Hughes who volunteers at our North Hub living well day service in Southport. Sam supports with activities, mealtimes and helping to provide guidance for those who attend and a valued member of the team. Sam is pictured with Stuart Heffy, the Activities Lead from our New Leaf Garden project in Southport.
Let us also introduce Tony King who is a volunteer in the communications team at Head Office and held this role since January 2021. Tony brings to his role significant IT and design skills and accomplished many communications projects and materials to a very high standard. You will see Tony pictured with his certificate and standing alongside Adam Drury, our Head of HR.
Thank you so much Sam and Tony for all your immense contributions to the company from all at New Directions.

NEW CENTRE STAGE GIVE SPECIAL THANKS TO VAL HAUGHTON
Val recently visited New Centre Stage who were delighted to showcase their new projector & screen which was purchased using a very kind donation from Val's son Ian Haughton. Ian who very sadly passed away in 2020 was a very popular member of the team who performed in many shows throughout his years at Drama. Ian is missed very dearly by all of the team. Thank you Val and Ian
