SWAGGA PCN Driving Cervical Screening Uptake Through Neighbourhood Insight

Throughout August, the Living Well Bus travelled across Cheshire & Merseyside, offering vital cervical screening information and the opportunity for eligible individuals to have their smear test on board.

📍 The bus visited a diverse range of locations – from hospitals and workplaces to community spaces – ensuring accessibility and convenience for all.

For the South Liverpool area, SWAGGA PCN used local knowledge to identify key placement areas. The results speak volumes: engagement was highest where neighbourhood insight shaped the strategy. Of the 101 smear tests carried out across the 15 venues, an impressive 46% took place at just three locations – all identified by SWAGGA PCN. This clearly demonstrates the value of local insight in driving uptake and placing services where they’re needed most.

The three events were also supported by SWAGGA Cancer Care Coordinators and GP Lead who played a vital role in supporting the Living Well staff and pushing promotion through all community channels to maximise uptake.

SWAGGA PCN is perfectly placed to help shape and deliver neighbourhood services that truly reflect the needs of the patients it serves — combining local insight with a deep understanding of population health to drive meaningful engagement and outcomes.

The first event of the week will be at Allerton Library,10am till 2pm and SWAGGA will also be offering free NHS health checks only at this event, so pop down!

Let's clear up common myths about Cervical Screening! Myth or Facts? Lets check ! ✅🩷

From July 2025, it is recommended that women aged 25 - 64 are to get screened every five years. It is so important that you attend your cervical screening!👏

SWAGGA have appointments available with our lovely female practice nurses every Saturday at the South Liverpool Treatment Centre. These appointments are bookable appointments only and you can book in by contacting your GP surgery or SWAGGA's Cancer Care Coordinators on 0151 351 8849 (you must be registered in a South Liverpool SWAGGA practice!)

Appointments are usually 10-15 minutes long. However, if you feel you need more time, let them know when booking your appointment. It is also fine for you to bring someone with you for support.

Don’t delay, get screened today!
