Today is International Women’s Day 🌸

Today we recognise and celebrate the strength, resilience and love of the women who support children and young people with SEND every single day.

To the mums, grandmas, foster carers, aunties and all the incredible women who advocate, fight for the right support, attend the appointments, write the emails, challenge systems, and still show up with endless love — we see you.

Being a parent or carer of a child or young person with additional needs often means becoming a researcher, a campaigner, a negotiator and a constant voice for your child. It can be exhausting, emotional and at times overwhelming, but your dedication makes a difference every single day.

Today is about recognising that strength.
Today is about saying you are not alone.
Today is about celebrating the power of women supporting women.

To every woman walking this journey — you are doing an incredible job 💜

Do you have a child or young person attending LIPA School?

Following reports in the Liverpool Echo that the Department for Education (DfE) has decided the school will close at the end of this academic year, with a 4-week consultation period — we want to hear directly from parents and carers.

📢 Your voice matters.

We would like to understand:

• When were you first contacted about the decision to close?
• Who contacted you — the school, the DfE, or someone else?
• Has the consultation formally started?
• How has communication been handled so far? Has it felt clear, timely and transparent?
• Have you been given information about next steps for your child/young person?

If you feel comfortable sharing your experience (good or bad), please comment below or message us privately at livpacpcf@gmail.com

As a Parent Carer Forum, we are gathering feedback to ensure families’ voices are heard and that communication and support are appropriate during this time.

Please share with other LIPA families.

Good luck to everyone receiving their school placement offers today 🤞✨

We know this can be an exciting and sometimes nerve-wracking day for families.

If your child has been offered the school you were hoping for, that’s wonderful news 💜

If not, please try not to panic. You’re not alone, and you do have options. You have the right to:

• Accept the place offered (so your child has a school secured)
• Join waiting lists for other preferred schools
• Appeal the decision if you feel your case should be reconsidered

If your child has additional needs, or you’re unsure about your next steps, please contact your local SENDIASS. They provide free, impartial advice and can guide you through waiting lists, appeals, and understanding your rights.

It can really help to write down any questions you have or things you’re unsure about before making calls or sending emails. Having them written down means you won’t forget anything important and helps you feel more prepared and confident.

Take a breath today. Once you’ve had time to process the decision, you can look at the next steps calmly and clearly.

If you need support or just want to talk it through, reach out. You don’t have to navigate this alone 💬

📣 Transition Reviews – Has It Been Done?

We’ve been made aware that some children and young people with EHCPs may have been missed when it comes to their transition reviews — especially at key stages such as:

➡️ Nursery to Reception
➡️ Year 6 to Year 7
➡️ Year 11 to Sixth Form or College

These are significant milestones. A transition review isn’t just a meeting — it’s a vital opportunity to plan properly, ensure the right provision is in place, and make sure the next setting is fully prepared.

If your child or young person is at one of these transition points, we want to know — has it been done?

✔️ Were you meaningfully involved?
✔️ Is the receiving setting fully prepared?
✔️ Has the process worked well — or have there been challenges?

We want to hear all experiences — good and not so good. Your voice helps us understand what is happening locally and ensures no child or young person slips through the net.

Please comment below or email us at livpacpcf@gmail.com

Transitions should be planned, timely and centred around our children and young people. 💜
