This is my fourth year coming to the park on a Wednesday morning to do my own yoga practice (during the warmer months).

Abs and I got back on it this morning for the first time and it felt so good!

It’s the best to practice outside for me. Love it. Brings me home to myself even more so.

I didn’t go so much last year due to chronic hip pain - which I still have yet it’s slightly more manageable - at least it was up until doing my yard last week. It’s flared up bad again I’ve been in pain to varying degrees for almost 3 years now, still inconclusive as to what it is, defo also menopause related to some degree 😩

O V E R W H E L M . . .

What a relief to be home.

I just ‘tried’ to go to a gig: a boss Latin American cellist was playing, I had the night off work for it.

As soon as I arrived I felt overstimulated, by the people, the lights the loudness. Not by my friends - they’re gorgeous and totally got me.

I just wanted to be home, wrapped in the stillness with my lad Tay.

I’ve avoided gigs for a while, I was even nervous about seeing my beloved David Byrne in March. I just get so overwhelmed. It’s very uncomfortable.

Overwhelm and feeling overstimulated is my no 1 menopause symptom. I do my best to do a lot less these days.

Noise and lights have caught me out a lot lately. My nemesis is the hand dryer in the ladies changing rooms in Nuffield gym😡

Have you experienced this? I’ve never left a gig before like, I’d never even contemplated leaving a gig before. It was boss as well. She looked amazing - I saw the first minute or two.

New pastures present themselves at this time of life. It’s peculiar and alien at times, I used to be the life and soul, it amuses me how wholly different I am.

I am still getting used to it but I’m okay with it too, I like the quiet stillness and nature more than anything else now 😂

Had a good chat with the bouncer about it too as I was leaving. He was lovely, said his wife is feeling the same - girls - we’re not alone 🙏🏻💪🏻😍

E A R T H D A Y

It is earth day today! Get out and into the nature, take your shoes off and walk on the ground. It feels like home to me every time I do this.

“Walk as if you are kissing the Earth with your feet” Thich Nhat Hanh
I love being outside, I crave it, and I love being in nature.

I take regular little jaunts off into the middle of nowhere, often just me and my boy.

Most of these pics are from a recent trip to the lakes and the blue bells are in Sefton Park.

It is wonderful to have my Tago to share this with every day. Even when I don’t feel like going out I must for him, and I always feel better 🖤

NEW DATE

The Sunday Service 19 April
Yin Yoga & Yoga Nidra

A Gentle Awakening:
A steady return to the light within

6-8pm Sunday 19 April

Slight change to the theme as we are a little deeper into the spring season.

We have: longer days, a lift in energy, a sense of things moving again.

So this month we’ll work with gentle backbends and opening of the front line of the body. Nothing forced, just a gradual opening, a flowing in of prana.

Lifting the chest, creating space across the collarbones, finding support in the breath as we move the spine into gentle extension.

We will still come into a place of deep relaxation however with a subtle opening and awakening of energy in this spring season.

This will be a wonderful workshop for anyone with poor posture, with a pattern of habitual rounding of the upper back and shortening the pec muscles or with any respiratory issues.

A simple, grounded and steady, opening practice, leaning us into spring.

The original date for this was to be Easter Sunday - If you have already booked the Easter Sunday date you will receive an email with option to switch dates of a full refund.

Understanding and accepting impermanence has helped me with so many losses in my life.

I’ve used these words many times in my classes over the years, they feel so poignant to me at the moment and I’ve been coming back to them over and over during these last few weeks myself.

One of my best friends said goodbye to her dog yesterday, when I found out the morning I was devastated, for her especially, and I loved him too. We. Sobbed together on the phone.

I can’t imagine the day I will lose my boy Tago. Mary Oliver’s words come back to me yet again.

Letting go is never easy. Even understanding the nature of impermanence doesn’t stop the pain.

I wrote a blog about impermanence after the death of my niece-in-law a few years ago, you can find that on my website. It helped me to contemplate and write those words at the time.

Embracing the Elements:
Yin Yang Yoga Workshop

The five elements are the fundamental qualities that shape both the body and the natural world.

From the subtle spaciousness of ether/space arises air, fire, water and earth. Each element becoming progressively more tangible and embodied.

Ether is the most subtle: the space in which experience becomes possible, moving through to the most gross element, earth, which is the most tangible and grounding.

In this workshop, I plan to take us on a journey through the elements. Here is how we will explore this theme:

Water / Jala or Apas: beginning with gentle, flowing movement to soften and arrive

Fire / Agni: building heat through sun salutations and core work

Air / Vayu: exploring breath and lightness through pranayama and asana balances

Earth / Prithvi: grounding with a floor based yin practice

Space or Ether / Akasha: resting into stillness through a deeply nourishing yoga nidra

This is a workshop I have been thinking about for sine time, and I expect that it will be my final long workshop until the Equinox in September.

These 5 elements are at the heart of yoga, ayurveda and yoga therapy.

We will be embracing practises that balance these elements within us.
