Happy International Women’s Day!
Thank to all of the women, alive and dead. To my ancestors and all of the strong female women who went before me. Thank you thank you thank you for standing up for equality and to make our voices heard.
I am a feminist, to be a feminist (for me) equates to equality. Nothing extreme, just simple equality. Thank you.
I love being a woman more than ever, and have never felt more womanly, feminine, confident, content with my being, powerful in my purpose and passion, caring with my love and compassion. I feel, at 54, that I am stronger, yet more sensitive, than ever and I love it more with each passing year 🙌🏼
I’ve chosen this photos as I feel I look so confident and purposeful 💪🏻

My favourite time of year, spring is coming.
March is a month of hope, renewal, rebirth, life. A time of awakening, coming out of the winter cave. I love seeing the colour emerging - the crocus, and the buds forming. The birds sound different, more buoyant and hopeful.
I love this quote by Anais Nin - You’ll be hearing it a lot in class this week.
My annual Spring Equinox Yin Yang Workshop is already half full. I think it’s my favourite one to do. Details:
2-5pm Sunday 22 March
You can book on my website - link in bio 🙏🏻

S L O W D O W N
Message to self, and one of my fave quotes.
It’s from the book The Art of Stillness: Adventures in Going Nowhere by Pico Ayre, which I read last year.
It’s taken me 8 years to slow down, I mastered it about 18 months ago when life felt overwhelming as I was really feeling the menopuase.
Yet sometimes still I get excited and do too way too much, then I have to put the breaks on again. So this is a message to self - as most of the quote and poems I share are 😂
I used it in class yesterday, it’s one I always return to 🙌🏼

I took these yesterday at Calderstones Park, I saw a few daffs and blossoms too. Gorgeous.
God I absolutely love spring, a recent fave season, closely followed by autumn.
I just love the hope, regeneration, life and the energy of renewal.
It’s the best and most welcome after a long dormant winter.
I never valued the seasons until I went travelling for long periods. It taught be the beauty of change and impermanence. I love living seasonally now, and I definitely ready for spring!
I have my annual Yin Yang Spring Equinox Yoga Workshop on 22 March.
If you want something softer - The Sunday Service is this weekend. A Gentle Awakening into spring.

I’ve had a wonderful time teaching at these last few weeks.
What a sublime place to practice and to teach, the smell is almost palpable 🌸
Being amongst a plants and trees is a daily must for me. So this was a perfect place to teach. In Ayurveda this is sattvic energy - harmonious and balanced 🌱
Thank you to the Palm House for having me and to everyone who came to practice 🙌🏼

A Quiet Awakening
The Sunday Service is on 1 March.
March is named after Mars, the Roman god of war and agriculture before battle.
It’s a month of action, spring is coming, so it’s all forward movement.
However, the 1st March is not full of this fiery battle energy. It’s more like the energy of drawing the bow before the arrow is released.
So in this month’s practice we will honour this shift of the seasons, and the gentle stirring of our inner energy.
What to expect:
Pranayama / Breath-work to balance the nervous system.
Yin poses to awaken a little spring energy and some subtle back bends.
Yoga Nidra for deep rest and letting go - to create some space for the new to arrive within us.

Through being a yoga teacher and an artsy farty type I have opened an Etsy shop selling yoga eye pillows for savasana, relaxation and sleep. Visit my shop: https://www.etsy.com/uk/shop/PenJaLiYoga
I had always dabbled with yoga and meditation since after my mum died in 2000; I found that it helped me tremendously. I had developed quite a strong practice by 2014 when my dad became ill. I found that the yoga gave me the strength to look after him and cope with the grave situation. Following his death I went off to India to do my teacher training. I did the training to help my grief, never with the intention to teach. Being there and learning what I learned gave the calling to teach and to share with others these skills that had helped me so much however it took me a couple of years to teach as I was still grieving.
Teaching has been the best thing I have ever done in my life, being able to share the small amount of knowledge I have gained (yoga is a vast subject), and make a difference to others, has been so humbling and rewarding.
Yoga really has transformed me into a better and happier person. From my late teens and throughout my 20’s I had chronic depression and also suffered a lot of family illness and bereavement, stress and heartache. I believed and accepted that depression would be with me for my whole life. Through yoga, meditation and a few lifestyle changes I have not suffered from depression for many many years and am now happier than I have ever been! It really can be such a transformative tool for a happy fulfilled life.
I was initially trained in Sivananda and then later in Yin Yoga. I currently teach Sivananda, Hatha, Hatha Flow and Yin Yoga; always with pranayama (breath work) and mindful awareness.
