What major historical events do you remember? I remember. It was just after a night shift,my world still hazy with half-sleep,the sun leaning through the window in the quiet way it doeswhen nothing terrible had yet happened.I sat with my lunch, the old television humming its familiar static hymn, news blah blah...and then, an image that didn’t make sense....

What’s the biggest risk you’d like to take — but haven’t been able to? There are moments when the air itself feels like a door, open just enough for the light to whisper, come through.I can almost taste the horizon, the salt of new beginnings, the sound of somewhere else calling my name. To move on is to break my own orbit,...

What are you most proud of in your life? I have built my life on what cannot be bought,my word, my promise, my willingness to keep goingwhen no one is watching. I have spoken truth even when silence would have been easier, stood by what I said long after the feeling had faded. There is a kind of strength in keeping faith with yourself,...

What have you been working on? I rise in quiet defiance of yesterday’s inertia, the gentle pull of comfort that once kept me still. Now there is movement, deliberate and imperfect,a heartbeat remembering it was meant to climb. Each breath I claim is a kind of return,to the self beneath the noise,to the body that waited patiently…...

Week 18. Third dose of 7.5 mg. Twenty-four and a half percent of my body weight gone. I should be dancing on a table somewhere, but instead I’m standing on the plateau of diminishing returns, staring into the distance and wondering, “What now?” Things have slowed down. The scale, once my favourite morning companion, now greets me with all the enthusiasm of a teenager asked to do the washing up....

What’s something most people don’t know about you? Many think they know me,from a handful of gestures,a few well-timed silences,a name that fits neatly in conversation. They know the photographs, the words I’ve allowed to escapelike doves trained to circle, never to land too far from home. They don’t know the weight of certain mornings, how I stand at the edge of thought…...

Do lazy days make you feel rested or unproductive? Let’s dismantle the myth of the lazy day, shall we? That strange little phrase that’s been used to shame people for doing the very thing their biology requires, rest. “Lazy day” rolls off the tongue like a confession. 🙄 It’s the verbal equivalent of saying, “I have sinned, for I have napped.”...

When you think of the word "successful," who's the first person that comes to mind and why? Success is not a mountain with one glittering peak,it’s a field, wild, uneven, full of small, stubborn flowersthat bloom in places no one thought to look. It’s the morning someone wakesand chooses to try again. It’s the tremor in the hand that still writes…...

What makes a good neighbor? Behind their curtains, lace and lore,They stand on duty by the door.Tea in hand, one eyebrow high,Surveying traffic, clouds, and pie. They know the bin days, council schemes,The gossip, scandals, hopes, and dreams. They clock the Amazon's van at ten,And note it when it’s back again. They’ve mapped the postman’s secret route,...

What could you try for the first time? There is a first time for everything...a thin line between what I knowand what waits, shimmering, just beyond reach. What principles define how you live? Grit. Sweat. Hands blister,But the seed is buried. The buried seed strains upward,Its hunger made of sunlight,Its faith, of dirt. The dirt remembers footsteps,Each print a promise kept,Each ache a small cathedral,Rising from persistence. Persistence hums beneath failure’s skin. The tired bones sing louder than applause,Dreams wear calluses like crowns,...

What have you been putting off doing? Why? The Pantheon of El I was born into Christianity, christened in the Catholic Church and later baptised again, this time by the Latter Day Saints Church (aka the Mormon Church). Double redemption perhaps, or double insurance. My childhood smelt of incense and wine, my youth of obedience and missionary pamphlets. I learnt the language of reverence before I learnt the language of doubt....
