Are you waiting for your first Menopause appointment at Liverpool Women's University Hospital?

We are hosting a virtual Menopause Education evening on Monday 20 October 2025 from 7pm - 8pm.

Led by a Liverpool Women’s Consultant Specialist and a GP with a special interest in Menopause, this online group education session will offer an overview of common menopause symptoms, what to expect from your first appointment, self management guidance and a facilitated Q&A session.

All attendees will not have access to their camera or microphone during the session, protecting the identities of all patients during the recorded session. The sessions 'chat' function will be facilitated and questions posted will form part of the Q&A session. We recommend patients select to post anonymously.

Please note: we do not have access to any patient's personal details to discuss their care within this session and attendance is completely optional.

Baby Loss Awareness Week culminates today with the global “Wave of Light”.

We invite you to join us and families across the world by lighting a candle at 19:00hrs local time. Let your candle burn for at least one hour, to remember all the babies that have died too soon.

Now Recruiting Pregnant Mothers-to-Be

LJMU are interested in the outcomes for mothers and infants that are associated with different sleeping arrangements, for example, whether there are differences between mothers and infants who bed-share versus those who sleep separately, and how this relates to touch.

They will ask you to fill in online questionnaires at three time points - now, and again after your baby is born - in your own time, wherever you’re comfortable.
Each questionnaire will take about 25 minutes to complete. There is no obligation to take part.

If you are:

• A UK resident;
• In your third trimester;
• Between the ages of 18 and 45;
• Not carrying multiples (e.g., twins);
• Willing to provide an email address that you’ll be checking for the next year or so; and
• Willing to be contacted on that email address; then please contact the Study Team: NighttimeCaregiving@LJMU.ac.uk

10th October 2025 marks World Mental Health Day.

Pregnancy and the Postnatal period can be an unpredictable time for you and your family. 1 in 5 women will experience a mental health concern during this time.
Pregnant women who have mental health concerns can gain support from our Perinatal Mental Health Team. Our Liverpool Women’s Team is run by two Perinatal Mental Health Midwives and a link consultant Obstetrician. Midwife clinics are run daily at Liverpool Women’s Hospital Monday – Friday, with a joint Consultant/Midwife clinic on a Tuesday. Our midwives work closely with other mental health services to ensure mental health and obstetric care runs smoothly together. If you require support with your mental health in pregnancy, please speak to your midwife who can generate a referral to the team.
