The Supplements I Use on TRT (No Cycling Required)

As promised, this is the supplement stack I personally use as someone who’s on TRT and works in the supplement industry.

Every supplement in this stack serves a purpose and nothing needs to be cycled.

Supporting cardiovascular and metabolic health, managing inflammation, lipids, energy production, recovery, and hormone signalling.

And most importantly, supporting long term health on TRT. If I’m happy using these now, I should also be happy still using them in 20 years time.

Whether you’re on HRT or not, this is the mindset that matters.

Any questions, drop them in the comments or send me a message.

Paying nearly £20 Extra for the Label? 👀

Optimum Nutrition is one of the most recognisable supplement brands in the world, and Gold Standard Whey is often treated as the benchmark.

Credit where it's due, it's actually a really good product, but I believe it's very over hyped.

When you actually compare the labels of CNP Isolate and Gold Standard Whey, things get interesting.

Both products contain 1g sugar per serving, but protein content tells a different story.

Gold Standard Whey: Around 76% protein
CNP Isolate: Around 86% protein

Now factor in real usage.

If you’re having two shakes a day, by month two you’re buying another tub anyway, regardless of brand.

So the question isn’t as simple as “number of servings” on paper, it’s what you’re happy to spend every time you restock.

£74 VS £55?

Both are solid products, but in my opinion, branding shouldn’t cost you £20.

🧪 Grey Area Ingredient: Ephedrine

Source: A naturally occurring alkaloid found in Ephedra species (and historically Sida cordifolia), though most ephedrine encountered today has been produced synthetically for pharmaceutical use.

🔑 Key Insights

• Potent sympathomimetic stimulant
• Strong effects on energy, appetite, and fat mobilisation
• Historically used in physique sports
• Acts on adrenergic and catecholamine pathways
• Now tightly regulated due to safety concerns

🧬 What Is Ephedrine?

Ephedrine is a naturally occurring alkaloid traditionally sourced from Ephedra sinica and related plants. While some herbs were once marketed as “natural ephedrine sources,” modern ephedrine is almost exclusively synthetic, standardised, and pharmaceutical in origin. It has a long medical history as a bronchodilator and decongestant.

⚙️ How It Works

Ephedrine increases the release of norepinephrine and directly stimulates alpha and beta adrenergic receptors, leading to elevated heart rate, increased thermogenesis, appetite suppression, and heightened alertness. Unlike caffeine, it has both central and peripheral stimulant effects.

📜 Historical Context

Ephedrine famously formed part of the ECA stack (Ephedrine, Caffeine, Aspirin), widely used in bodybuilding and fat loss protocols in the 1990s and early 2000s. This combination was sometimes referred to as “T5”, a nod to its metabolic impact, following the naming convention of thyroid hormones T3 and T4.

⚠️ Legal & Educational Notice (UK)

In the UK, ephedrine is a controlled substance and is not permitted for use in food supplements. Possession, supply, or sale outside of medical contexts is regulated. This post is for educational purposes only and does not constitute a recommendation or endorsement of use.

The Problem With Using High Stims Every Session 👀

High stim pre workouts feel incredible.
That’s exactly why they shouldn’t be used every session.

When a heavy hitter is used four or five times a week, it stops being a boost and becomes your baseline. Your nervous system adapts, tolerance builds, and stimulation becomes your new normal.

The real issue shows up on the days you don’t use it.

You don’t just have a normal workout, you have a sub normal one.

Not because you’re weak, but because your system has recalibrated around constant stimulation.

For daily training, my advice is to stick to pre workouts where caffeine is pretty much the strongest stimulant in the product.

Save the heavy hitters for the sessions that actually matter 💪😎👍

Why Your Pre-Workout Crashes (And How to Stop It)

Most pre workout crashes aren’t caused by too much caffeine, they’re caused by dopamine depletion.

Stimulants like caffeine and DMHA push dopamine hard, which can be great for drive and intensity. But once dopamine is used up or broken down too quickly, energy drops, focus collapses, and motivation disappears.

That’s where anti crash ingredients come in.

Instead of adding more stimulation, these compounds support, preserve, or slow the breakdown of dopamine, allowing energy and focus to taper smoothly instead of falling off a cliff.

• Mucuna Pruriens provides L-DOPA, the direct precursor to dopamine, helping replenish what stimulants burn through.

• Sabroxy® slows dopamine reuptake, keeping it active in the synapse longer, improving focus, mental clarity, and motivation.

• Hordenine inhibits MAO-B, an enzyme responsible for dopamine breakdown, helping extend stimulant effects without increasing dose.

• Zynamite® (Mango Leaf Extract) inhibits COMT, reducing dopamine and catecholamine degradation, supporting cognitive endurance and smoother energy curves.

The result?

✔️ Less crash
✔️ Better focus
✔️ More stable drive
✔️ Cleaner comedown

🧪 Ingredient Spotlight: Bitter Orange Extract (Citrus Aurantium)

Source: A natural botanical extract derived from the bitter orange fruit, traditionally used for energy, digestion, and metabolic support. In modern supplements, it’s best known for its role in fat loss and stimulant based formulas.

🔑 Key Benefits
• Supports thermogenesis and metabolic rate
• Promotes alertness and mental drive
• Assists fat mobilisation via adrenergic pathways
• Helps control appetite and energy expenditure
• Often used as a stimulant alternative or enhancer

🧬 What Is Bitter Orange Extract?
Bitter Orange Extract is sourced from Citrus aurantium and contains several naturally occurring amines, most notably p-synephrine, along with trace compounds such as tyramine, octopamine, and N-methyltyramine. These compounds are structurally related to catecholamines and interact with adrenergic receptors in the body.

⚙️ How It Works
Synephrine primarily acts on alpha-1 and beta-3 adrenergic receptors, which are involved in fat mobilisation and thermogenesis, rather than directly stimulating the central nervous system like caffeine.

This is why Bitter Orange is often described as providing a “cleaner” energy. Supporting amines such as tyramine may further influence neurotransmitter release and metabolic signalling, contributing to appetite control and sustained drive.

📏 Usage Notes
Bitter Orange is commonly stacked with caffeine, and other stimulant & thermogenic compounds, but can also be used alone for those sensitive to heavy stims. As with all adrenergic ingredients, dose awareness and individual tolerance matter.

600mg of Caffeine… Are We Pushing This Too Far?

Gas Mark 10 Product Breakdown! 💪😎👍

In addition to the caffeine, you’re looking at beta alanine for performance buffering, tyrosine and Alpha GPC for focus and drive, electrolytes to support muscle contraction, and hordenine to extend and intensify the stimulant effect.

Something else worth mentioning 👀

Even half a scoop still provides meaningful, effective doses for most people. Taken that way, it’s often easier to dial in your response, and it also means the tub lasts twice as long.

Would you try 600mg… or is this where it should stop? 🤔😂

Let me know in the comments.

🧪 Ingredient Spotlight: Taurine

Source: A naturally occurring amino sulfonic acid found in the brain, heart, muscles, and nervous system. Taurine is also abundant in foods like meat, fish, and dairy, and is produced naturally in the human body.

🧬 What Is Taurine?

Taurine is often misunderstood because of its association with energy drinks, but in reality it is not a stimulant. It is a conditionally essential compound that plays a critical role in nervous system regulation, electrolyte balance, and cardiovascular health.

Your brain and heart rely on taurine to function calmly and efficiently.

⚙️ How It Works

Taurine supports GABAergic activity, helping balance excitatory neurotransmitters. This is why it can reduce anxiety and smooth some of the negative effects caused by stimulants like caffeine.

It also regulates calcium flow in heart and nerve cells, supporting steady heart rhythm and proper muscle contraction.

As an osmolyte, taurine helps control water movement in and out of cells, improving hydration, cell volume, and stress tolerance at a cellular level.

⚡ Taurine + Stimulants

Taurine does not increase stimulation.
Instead, it helps buffer overstimulation by calming the nervous system and improving signal control. This is why it is commonly included alongside caffeine rather than used as a stimulant itself.

❤️ Heart Health Support

Taurine supports healthy blood pressure, cardiac output, and electrical stability of the heart. It is one of the most researched nutrients for cardiovascular resilience.

🧪 Natural vs Synthetic Taurine

There is no structural or functional difference between naturally occurring taurine and supplemental (synthetic) taurine. The molecule is identical, and the body uses it in exactly the same way.

🔍 Final Note

Taurine is not harmful.
It is protective, calming, and essential for nervous system balance, especially in today’s high stress environment.
