Why might someone need one? It can be done for many reason like bowel disease, cancer, or injury and can be temporary or permanent.

What is an Ileostomy? 💡
An ileostomy is a surgical opening in the belly that brings the end of the small intestine (ileum) to the surface of the abdomen.
This allows waste to exit the body into a stoma bag.
Many people live full, active lives with an ileostomy even running marathons, like Adele Roberts!

Eat a balanced diet 🥗

Inspiration Monday 💗

At just 42, former BBC Radio 1 DJ Adele Roberts was diagnosed with stage 2 bowel cancer. After surgery and receiving a stoma, Adele didn’t shy away from her new reality she openly shared her journey, even proudly showing her stoma on national TV.

In 2023, Adele made history by setting a Guinness World Record as the fastest female with an ileostomy in the London Marathon! 🏅
