Striking workers at National Coal Mining Museum reject pay offer that leaves many staff worse off.

UNISON general secretary Christina McAnea: "This dispute has gone on far too long. Museum bosses have spent more on continuing the strike than it would have cost to give staff a reasonable pay rise."

UNISON Yorkshire and Humberside regional organiser Rianne Hooley said: “Staff are keen to get back to work, but only when a fair pay offer is put forward.

“The latest offer from the museum is actually worse for many of the workers.

“UNISON has repeatedly asked for financial details to help establish what's affordable, but these have been refused.

“If managers genuinely want to resolve this dispute, they should be transparent with UNISON over what is and isn’t affordable. Otherwise, it looks like they have something to hide.”

UNISON members who train control room staff at North West Ambulance Service
(NWAS) are taking strike action after their employer cut their role’s pay by 9% through
the unfair removal of a ‘Recruitment and Retention Premia’.
Now most staff suffer a pay cut when promoted to the education team. Most of the staff
in the current team are applying for other roles, which could lead to a damaging loss of
skills and experience, all because NWAS want to cut staffing costs.
The Integrated Control Centre Educator team provide vital training and support to
ensure emergency contact centres and the NHS 111 service run smoothly in the North
West of England.
