Good bye to Dr. Priyanka Prakesh who has just finished her second placement at Wingate Medical Centre. Priyanka will be sorely missed by staff and patients alike. We wish her lots of luck for her new position and hope she’ll keep in touch

📢 NHS Weight Loss Support in Knowsley - update

Adults in Knowsley living with obesity and related health risks are now able access weight loss injections as part of a new programme. The phased rollout aims to address rising obesity rates and support long-term health improvements.

✅ Eligibility is determined by strict criteria. This includes:
• A BMI of 40kg/m² or higher
• A BMI of 37.5kg/m² or higher if from a minority ethnic background
• AND four of the following five conditions:
• Type 2 diabetes
• High blood pressure
• Heart and vascular disease
• High cholesterol
• Obstructive sleep apnoea

You should only call your GP to discuss weight loss injections if you meet the eligibility criteria listed above 👆.

🚨 Measles is now circulating in Knowsley. 🚨

📢 Please do NOT attend the practice in person if you have a fever AND a red-brown rash (with spots which may join to form blotches – usually beginning on the head and then spreading down onto the trunk, arms and legs). 📢

If you have these symptoms when contacting us for an appointment, please inform the Receptionist for the necessary arrangements to be made for you to be examined safely.

People with measles are infectious for four days before the rash appears, and for four days afterwards (the day the rash starts is ‘Day 0’). People with measles must isolate at home during this period.

If you or your child are not fully vaccinated please speak to us about getting your schedule up to date.

Find out about measles, a highly infectious viral illness that can be very unpleasant and sometimes lead to serious complications.

Despite what mass media is sharing, weight loss injections are NOT available to lots of people from GPs today.
From 23rd June GP’s have permission to prescribe weight loss injections for those with a BMI over 40 & 4 out of 5 weight related medical conditions. Currently there are less than 100 people in Knowsley potentially eligible.
The service for prescribing these is still being commissioned by the ICB so cannot yet be prescribed locally & prescription will be from a GP service not your GP.
Please do not waste a GP call to discuss weight loss injections; you will be taking calls from others who need them & will not be getting a prescription even if you are in the limited group eligible.
You can book with an HCA for a weight check & Lifestyle Hub referral to discuss other weight loss options.

Wingate Medical Centre and Millbrook Medical Centre are working in collaboration to deliver a Women’s Health Hub.

This is available to all patients across Kirkby needing or requiring Long Acting Reversible Contraceptive services i.e implants and coils.

You are able to self-refer into the service by accessing the referral form on either Wingate’s or Millbrook’s website.

The referral form you choose will determine the location of your appointment. 📍 You do not have to be a patient at either practice to complete the form. ✅
