A massive thank you to everyone who came to our first free community meal on Friday as part of our Shared Plates, Shared Stories programme!
We were absolutely thrilled with the turnout and the wonderful atmosphere!
Over the past eight weeks, we've been working with an amazing group of women from Liverpool, Vietnam, Hong Kong, China, and Azerbaijan. Through this programme, we've shared stories, explored each other’s cultures, and exchanged traditional recipes. Each woman brought in a dish from her heritage, and Michelle from Bay Tree Caterers Liverpool & Bay Tree Cookery Academy CIC helped teach the group how to cook each one.
To celebrate the end of the programme, the women came together to cook these recipes for the community and what a feast it was! Everyone enjoyed sampling dishes from different cultures, and the women were proud to share what they had learned.
Thank you to Michelle and all the women who took part. It was wonderful working with you all and we were so proud!
At the meal, we encouraged guests to talk to at least one person they didn’t know and it was heartwarming to see so many new conversations spark around the table.
Thank you again to everyone who joined us and helped make the event such a success. Thank you to Our Liverpool for funding the programme. We can’t wait for the next one!
We will be running the Shared Plates, Shared Stories programme again. If you'd like to learn how to cook with women from different cultures please get in touch 0151 222 3507 communitydevelopment@josephlappincentre.co.uk
