⚠️ Important Update: Meningitis B
At this time, there are no changes to national vaccination guidance, and the MenB vaccine is not being offered outside of the routine schedule. For a vaccine outside of this schedule, you will need to arrange for private vaccinations.
🛡️ Protection for secondary school children
Most young people are already well protected through the MenB vaccine given as part of a child's routine immunisation, which was introduced in 2015. Anyone born before 2015 will not have been offered the Men B Vaccination. The Meningitis ACWY vaccine is also given during school and offered to university students, but does not protect against Meningitis B.
📋 Check your child’s vaccinations
We encourage parents and carers to make sure their child is fully up to date. You can check by:
• Looking in your child’s Red Book
• Contacting us
• Checking school immunisation emails
If any vaccines are missing, please contact us to make an appointment for catching up, but we can only give the MenB vaccine up to 2 years of age.
🧠 Know the symptoms of meningitis
Seek urgent medical attention if you notice:
• A rash that does not fade when pressed
