TeamDiabuddies Welcome to Diabuddies™ - where no one faces type 1 diabetes alone💙

You've judged someone for being lazy... and you were completely wrong.
The truth is, a lot of people are fighting battles you can't see.
Not excuses. Not lack of effort.
Real, daily things that drain them before the day even starts.
They still show up.
They still try.
They just don't talk about what it costs them.
Maybe it's time we stop judging what we don't understand.
And if you're someone living like this... you're not alone.

Imagine having to manually do something your body is supposed to do to keep you alive… every single day.

No breaks. No days off. No switch off.

That’s Type 1 diabetes.

If this helped you understand it even a little… share it. Someone needs to see this 💙

They call it a condition.
A diagnosis. Something to manage.
But living with it every single day builds something most people will never understand...
discipline, resilience, strength.
This isn't weakness.

People see the numbers...
They don't see the mental load behind them.
The constant thinking.
The constant adjusting.
The part that never switches off.
If you live with it... you'll understand."

Most people think diabetes is just numbers…
Check it, fix it, move on.

What they don’t see is how it never switches off.
It’s there when you wake up, when you eat, when you’re trying to relax… even when you’re trying to sleep.

The constant “what ifs”…
What if I go low?
What if I got that dose wrong?
What if something happens and no one’s there?

After a while, it’s not even the highs or lows that get to you…
It’s the fact your mind never gets a break.

That’s the part people don’t understand.

If you live with this, you will. đź’™

Most people think diabetes is just about injections and “managing it”… but they don’t see what it actually costs.

Not just financially… but mentally.

The constant thinking. The decisions that never stop. The pressure of getting it right… every single day.

From the outside, it can look like everything’s fine.

But behind the scenes? It never switches off.

If you don’t live with diabetes, take a moment to understand this.

And if you do… what’s something people still don’t get?

21/04/2026

Most people still don’t understand this…

Diabetes isn’t just “manageable.” It’s not just “watch your sugar.”
It’s constant decisions, constant pressure, and constant risk — all while trying to live a normal life.

And yet in the workplace?
It’s ignored. Dismissed. Treated like it’s nothing.

People with diabetes are being turned away from jobs, pushed down disciplinary routes, and made to feel like a problem… all because employers don’t understand an invisible disability.

The law is there to protect us.
But too many workplaces still aren’t listening.

This needs to change.

If you’re an employer — do better. Learn. Understand. Support your staff properly.

And if you live with diabetes, or know someone who does — share this. Let’s make people wake up.
