Gray Healthcare

Gray Healthcare We are an award-winning complex care provider helping people move out of hospitals and other long stay institutions and into a home of their own for good.

We can provide the ongoing clinical support needed in a home setting. We are a national award-winning complex care provider who want to help more people across the UK with complex needs move out of hospitals and into a home of their own for good. We pioneered our innovative community care alternative to inpatient care back in 2007. With our clinically informed framework embedded with trauma informed principles, everything about the support we deliver is tailored around each person. From our specialist staff training programme, clinical assessments to our in-reach programme, no detail is overlooked. We support people with learning disabilities, autism, mental health conditions, acquired brain injuries and other complex needs.

Happy World Book Day! ๐Ÿ“š

While some of us were working remotely today and had completely forgotten it was World Book Day, our Teams calls were definitely more colourful than usual...

From Elmer the Elephant (amazing costume hand-made by Caitlin) to the Cat in the Hat, and even Alice in Wonderland, the office team fully embraced dressing up as some of our much-loved book characters - a great reminder that World Book Day is not just for children! Well done, team!

As we reflect on 2025 so far, one of the most encouraging developments has been the continued progress in discharges from hospital for people with learning disabilities. For over a year now, we've been tracking the monthly learning disability data published by NHS Digital. It's fantastic to see the real, measurable impact being made - with 230 people moving out of hospital settings compared to this time last year. However, there is still important work to be done. If you think we can support you in continuing this progress, call us today on 0330 123 123 9 or email info@grayhealthcare.com.

When we updated our website in September 2024, it was important to us that our case studies reflected the most up-to-date outcome data possible. We didn't want to showcase outdated results - only the impact we're delivering now.

Our case studies have now been updated to include our 2025 outcomes, where possible. Take a look at the latest results:

Watch this space as our outcomes report for year end 2025 will be published shortly!

๐Ÿ”ฌToday we mark the International Day of Women and Girls in Science. In complex care, science plays a major role in shaping safe, effective and compassionate support, from clinical decision-making and evidence-based practice to innovation in support delivery. We're proud to work alongside women in our organisation who use clinical skill and compassion to deliver fantastic outcomes for the people we support.

We're often asked: How do you support adults with behaviours perceived to be challenging in their own home?

The approach we use at Gray Healthcare is PROACT-SCIPr-UKยฎ, a positive person-centred approach that focuses on understanding the reasons behind behaviour and providing support that is respectful, proactive and least restrictive. Our staff receive two full days face-to-face initial training as part of their induction week with ongoing refresher courses. If you'd like to know more about our approach and our training programme:

When an individual has complex needs, referrers are often left searching for a provider capable of delivering a safe clinically-informed community package for someone whose needs are highly complex, persistently misunderstood or unmet elsewhere. This is where Gray Healthcare can bridge the gap.

In our latest blog, we explore what professionals can expect from our referral process, who is eligible and how we work with local authorities, NHS teams and families to deliver safe, sustainable outcomes for individuals in the community.

Big thank you to our Office Manager, Mark, for thinking of the team today ๐Ÿ‘

A surprise delivery of sweets and a positive potato was just what we needed to brighten our day. Gestures like these remind us how lucky we are to work with such thoughtful people.

Thanks for spreading the positivity, Mark ! ๐Ÿฌ๐Ÿฅ”

๐Ÿ“ฐCreating sensory-friendly supported living environments for adults with autism.

The sensory world shapes everyday life for autistic adults in profound ways. For many autistic people, the physical environment is not a passive backdrop but an active force that affects their emotional regulation, communication, independence and mental health and wellbeing. When sensory stimuli such as noise, lighting, temperature or textures are overwhelming, daily life can quickly become exhausting. Conversely, the right environment can create a sense of safety, stability and meaningful progress for these individuals.

Our latest blog explores what sensory friendly supported living environments mean in practice, why thoughtful design matters, and how specialist community care providers supporting individuals with complex needs create clinically informed, person-centred sensory environments that help autistic adults to thrive in their own homes.

โ“ Today's is 'What is the property solution for your packages of support?'

The answer is simple. We don't just place people in a property where we happen to have a vacancy, our Property Team find each person their 'forever' home in a location they choose close to family and friends. We prefer to keep the property separate to our packages of support. This way once an individual no longer needs our intensive support, our team can withdraw completely, allowing a domiciliary provider to take over or enabling the individual to live independently. Importantly, because the individual holds their own tenancy, they can maintain stability in their โ€˜foreverโ€™ home.
