This procedure is to enlarge and enhance the breasts, and women who decide to have this may have breasts which they feel are not in proportion with their body. Breast size is determined by a number of factors which includes breast feeding, pregnancy and weight change.

Sometimes a breast may become more developed than the other; this equates to some difference in size and or shape. The breasts may also lose their shape and droop because of the aging process. Breast shape and size can affect self-confidence greatly, therefore breast enlargement can help. Breast implants can make the breasts fuller and larger and come in many sizes and shapes. They are made from an outer layer of silicone and are filled with either silicone gel or salt water. Sometimes when creams and lotions are not sufficient, but having surgery seems too drastic, a dermal filler may help to achieve a younger and smoother complexion. This procedure is suitable for men, women and children over the age of 5 years who consider their ears to be too prominent and shaped irregularly, often being inherited. This type of corrective surgery is in fact one of the most common procedures carried out on children. If protruding ears are left untreated, they may prove to be a point of unwanted attention, especially at school and amongst adolescents. Teasing can be known to be psychologically harmful and may lead to a loss of self confidence.

Pinnaplasty may lack a normal fold, therefore the aim is to create as natural as possible a fold. In addition to as symmetrical an appearance as possible, which is in proportion to the patients facial appearance. This is achieved by adjusting the cartilage within the ear, allowing the ear to lie closer to the head. A certain haircut may be able to hide protruding ears in some cases, but this limits choices and men may find this difficult, especially when the hair thins with age.

Most women have some degree of breast asymmetry; however, in the majority this does not normally warrant surgical intervention as it does not affect them or they may not be aware of its presence.

Nonetheless in some patients the asymmetry affecting their breasts is such that it may impact on their ability to fit a bra, wear a dress; or even they may become aware that other women are looking at them whilst changing in the gym or in the case of teenagers, there may be peer pressure at school; which may cause a degree of psychological imbalance to the individual in the long term.

Breast-Asymmetry-CorrectionThe correction of breast asymmetry requires the expertise of an experienced consultant in order to ascertain what the patient is aspiring to achieve; and what are their expectations. Having established this information, the next step would be to discuss the surgical options available. These surgical options may include; a one or a two stage surgery.

We take time in your consultation: this allows us to properly discuss with you what it is exactly you are looking to achieve. In some cases, it may be that cosmetic surgery treatment is not the answer and if that were to be the case, we would of course take care to explain the reasons and suggest alternate sources of assistance. We will always endeavour to ascertain wherever possible in the first consultation the type of treatment that would be most relevant to your specific needs and health, and guide you through that process. As we take great care and time in such consultations, we reluctantly have to make a reasonable charge for this valuable time where you are seen by a consultant plastic surgeon.
