Community matters to us at Almond Hearing, and last weekend Iain was out presenting new Almond Hearing bibs to GSC Walking Football in Clarkston.

The group brings together people from across the local area for football, friendship, exercise, and connection and we’re proud to support them.

Hearing care is about far more than hearing devices. It’s about helping people stay connected to the things they enjoy and the communities around them.

We have a small number of appointments available at our Dumfries clinic on Wednesday 6 and Thursday 7 May for clinical ear wax removal by microsuction.

Appointments are being offered at a reduced rate as part of a training session, carried out by our registered nurse practitioner alongside Nicola, an audiologist with over 30 years of NHS experience.

A weekend in Broughty Ferry, with a few unexpected connections.

We were up working in Lindsey’s clinic this weekend and took a trip to the V&A with the kids.

What we didn’t expect was how many links there were to the work we’re doing across Almond Hearing.

Maggie’s featured heavily, a charity we’re supporting this year through our Conversations For campaign with Ali’s Army. Seeing the thought behind their spaces and the care that goes into them really resonated.

There were also links to The Crichton in Dumfries, where our newest clinic is based, and even to the regeneration of Clarkston High Street, with ideas from Williamwood High School students.

Different places. Different projects. But all centred around the same thing.

Community, care, and creating spaces that genuinely work for people.

It’s something we think about a lot in our clinics too.

We’re a week into Conversations For.

So far, £525 has been raised for Maggie’s through hearing assessments carried out in clinic.

Thank you to everyone who has come in and supported it.

If you’ve been putting off a hearing test, there is still availability across April.

Each assessment this month will contribute to Maggie’s.

We wanted to share a little more about why we’re supporting Maggie’s this April.

Our neighbour, Alix, is currently undergoing stem cell treatment.

This article shares her story, and the thinking behind Ali’s Army. A campaign built around 100 challenges over 100 days to support her through recovery.

It’s something close to home for us, and part of the reason we’ve introduced Conversations For this month.

Throughout April, every hearing assessment carried out in clinic will contribute to Maggie’s.
