Today marks the first day of Baby Loss Awareness Week and we understand that for many of you this might be your first. Perhaps you didn’t even know before now that this week existed. We are sorry you have found yourself in this place and that there is a need for this week.

Even if your grief still feels very new and very raw you can probably already see why this week is so vitally important to those of us within the bereaved community.

No matter where you are at in your grief or how many Baby Loss Awareness Weeks (BLAW) you have been part of, we want to remind you that we are here for you.

We understand this week is not just for bereaved families, we live it each and every day, but it is our chance to raise awareness within our wider communities of the lifelong impact of pregnancy and baby loss.

Similarly to last year, this year’s theme is Together, We Care, and we wish to remind you of the importance of finding time to be kind to ourselves – to show ourselves the same care we would offer another who has found themselves in this community of amazing people.

During this week we will be sharing some parent stories around the theme of “Togetherness”, and we will be holding specials events to which our bereaved parents and families are warmly invited. It can be a difficult week to navigate on your own. Please get in touch if you would like a chat.

As a charity we like to embrace the idea of ‘togetherness’ and endeavour to work collaboratively with NHS health boards, other third sector organisations and support services to ensure each family receives the best, well-rounded care possible. We pride ourselves on the care, compassion and understanding we show both our families and each other through our core values of empathy, connection and love.

Together, we care, and we want to make sure that no family has to face the worst time in their lives alone 🌈

A bit of drizzle isn’t enough to deter Wullie. Work has begun on preparing the area for our wildflower meadow in hopes of a beautiful colourful display next year.

Not only does the wildflower meadow provide a pop of colour in the grounds but it is great for pollinators. Hopefully our resident bees can make the most of it

In our latest Before You Go trailer, host Matt Brook sits down with Emma the Celebrant — a funeral celebrant from Bridgwater who has supported more than 800 bereaved families since training with the United Kingdom Society of Celebrants in 2020.

Before becoming a celebrant, Emma spent 13 years as a BBC local radio presenter across Somerset and Bristol.

Emma shares her story with honesty and courage: in April 2025, her life changed when she was diagnosed with Stage 4 ALK-positive lung cancer — a rare genetic cancer that is incurable but, thanks to modern medicine, can be managed.

Listen to Emma’s powerful conversation in the trailer now, and follow Before You Go on Spotify to hear the full episode this Friday: https://ow.ly/hT3f50X53uh

It was a pleasure to host funeral directors yesterday evening at Herne Bay Crematorium for the first of three information evenings introducing our new trust-backed Westerleigh Funeral Plans.

The event was a valuable opportunity to share how these plans can be fully personalised so that families benefit from their local funeral director's expertise and full range of services.

Over the past year, our Sip and Support virtual mental health drop-ins have become a valued space for colleagues to connect, share, and support one another. Thanks to the incredible engagement across the business, we’re excited to take things to the next level - by welcoming external experts and charities to bring fresh insights and professional guidance to the conversation.

To mark Su***de Prevention Day, we were honoured to welcome Josie from Survivors of Bereavement by Su***de - SOBS. Josie delivered a powerful and eye-opening session on the ripple effects of su***de and how we can offer meaningful support to those left behind.

She also led a moving and thought-provoking discussion, where we explored the power of language, the weight of stigma, and what it truly means to bring comfort and peace of mind to families navigating unimaginable loss. We look forward to working with SoBS in the future and making a difference within the bereavement sector.
