Mandala Yoga Ashram

Mandala Yoga Ashram Mandala Yoga Ashram is an internationally renowned centre of yogic knowledge nestled in the hills of Wales, UK.

We offer residential retreats and online courses based on the authentic teachings of yoga, advaita and ta**ra. As one of the few authentic ashrams to be found outside of India, we provide a vibrant link between the spiritual teachings of the yogic sages and sincere seekers of the modern world. Founded in 1986, the Ashram has over the years been a source of profound learning and transformation for thousands of people from all walks of life. Our approach emphasises meditation, transformation, and the cultivation of direct insight through practice and personal experience. Our teachings draw on the deeply connected systems of classical yoga, advaita and ta**ra, aiming to support the cultivation of direct meditative insight into the fundamental nature of reality alongside the development of the full range of human potential. Our residential retreats are rare opportunities to go deeper into the mysteries of yoga in an environment of great natural beauty and focused spiritual energy. We also offer two kinds of online course: live courses broadcast via Zoom, and self-study courses provided through our own online portal. In addition to our retreats and courses we offer a free library of teachings. The library contains a wealth of articles, videos and audios on the philosophies and practices of yoga, advaita and ta**ra. We believe that genuine spiritual teachings exist for the benefit of everyone, and that money shouldn't be an obstacle to anyone accessing these teachings. For over 35 years yoga has been practiced as a way of life here at the Ashram by a community of dedicated practitioners under the guidance of an authentic yoga master. This has created a deeply-rooted culture of spirituality and charged the atmosphere with vibrant transformative energy. This powerful energetic container is enhanced by the natural beauty and tranquility of the Ashram's surroundings, creating an environment which is wonderfully conducive to genuine spiritual growth. In line with the ancient tradition of yoga, Mandala Yoga Ashram has since its founding been a place where the process of Awakening is supported and nurtured - a place where that which can barely be imagined can be realised in our own being as the ground of our very existence. Today we remain as committed to this vision as ever, and to the quality and authenticity of what we teach.

Finding Our Centre
Amidst Change, Uncertainty & Adversity

With Swami Krishnaprem*

30 April - 4 May 2026

This retreat offers accessible yoga and meditation practices to help you reconnect with inner balance, resilience, and clarity. Through movement, stillness, and reflection, we’ll explore how to meet life’s challenges with openness, compassion, and trust.

Supported Rate £410 | Standard Rate £515 | Benefactor Rate £620

We are living through increasingly uncertain times. From international armed conflicts and political instability to rising living costs and widespread physical and mental health challenges, the collective pressures of our world inevitably find their way into our personal lives. In such times, finding our centre is not a luxury, it becomes a vital practice for meeting reality as it is, with greater clarity and resilience.

This retreat invites you to explore how accessible yoga and meditation practices can help you tap into your innate energy and resilience, regulate your nervous system, and move through vulnerability with openness rather than fear. When we allow ourselves to fully feel our grief, sorrow, and confusion, we begin to discover a deeper strength, one that is rooted not in avoidance but in courageous self-awareness.

Meditation
Gateway to Spaciousness and Insight
With Swami SatyaDaya and Tulsi and Swami Krishnapremananda

The practice of meditation is a cornerstone of the science of Yoga and all mystical traditions. At the heart of this retreat is a focus on your direct personal experience and transformation - the week will be about your journey towards the very centre of your being.

March 29 - 5 April

Supported Rate £640 | Standard Rate £740 | Benefactor Rate £840

It is through this recognition of spaciousness and the process of insight that we may encounter “the peace that passeth all understanding.’ This is not a peace that we can cling too or pretend is present in our being but a peace that is revealed at the very core of our being and that, even if experienced momentarily, will alter the fabric of our lives and understanding.

Throughout the retreat we will explore numerous practices that offer the potential to opening the door to insight. We will use simple but effective meditation techniques (some from the Vigyana Bhairava Ta**ra) as well as reflection on passages from ancient texts, both from the Yogic tradition and others, that challenge us to question our assumptions about who and what we are fundamentally.

Embers of Midwinter: The Seed Beneath the Soil with AnandaDevi
Jan 18, 2026 09:30 AM

We've been having a few technical difficulties with our mailing list, so appologies if an email about this hasn't reached you! but!

We're hosting a mini yoga retreat online through our Online Sangha.
Join us via zoom when you sign up for a deep winter practice where we'll nourish aspects of ourselves often overlooked or hidden beneath the stillness of winter,

We're very muhc looking forward to gathering with you for Embers of Midwinter: The Seed Beneath the Soil with AnandaDevi from 9:30am.

Please ensure you will be as comfortable as possible for our time together. You may like to have blankets, cushions or bolsters, warm layers, water and a journal nearby. One of the practices will require a candle. If you don't have one a visualisation will suffice.

The workshop will include gentle embodied somatic movement, meditation and a long nourishing Yoga Nidra, with time to pause, reflect and rest. This is an invitation to slow down, to listen inwardly and to tend the quiet ember of warmth and wisdom that lives beneath the surface at this midwinter threshold.

The Art of Being
With Chitra Lekha*

19th - 22nd March 2026

Come and taste the freshness of Spring with a traditional Ashram retreat at the vernal equinox.

Although we may have travelled far on our spiritual journey, it is still easy to get ”cluttered up” in a flood of spiritual knowledge, techniques and endless advice, to the point that our spiritual practice can turn into yet another automatic behaviour.

This retreat will take you back to the basics, unlearning to relearn.

During this weekend Chitra Lekha will share with you a selection of simple practices originating from the Yoga and Mindfulness traditions, designed to interrupt the constant doing and open up to the power of Being.

We will switch off our phones, forget about being clever or fit, and allow ourselves to relax and imbibe Nature's generosity and boundless beauty. Some practices will be done outdoors.

Come and absorb the spiritual energy of the Ashram, built up over decades of dedicated practice, and remind yourself of who you truly ARE; both here and everywhere else under the stars.

So Ham, Shivo Ham - I AM, I am pure consciousness

"To BE or not to BE:
that is the question"

Pranayama and Pratyahara
With Swami Atma Gyanam*

13-15 March, 2026

At one time these two arts were the very center of yoga practice. To be able to control prana, for health, healing, longevity, and even out of body experience was the foundation of yoga practice. To control the senses (Pratyahara) was so synonymous with yoga that in the Upanisads yoga was defined as restraining the senses.

Drawing from ta**ra and the Dattatreya Yoga shastra this weekend retreat will initiate or remind you of the life in every breath, and to improve the relationship with life through the breath and senses.

Supported Rate £235 | Standard Rate £295 | Benefactor Rate £360
