THIS!!👇🏼 our bodies are amazing things, let’s just have more faith in them!
Repost• For the majority of people Physiological birth is not dangerous. Its not a life threatening illness, and our body’s are not broken.
If an animal couldn’t give birth without relying on medical assistance, that species would more than likely go extinct. The fact the human race has been on this planet for millions of years is evidence that we have an amazing inbuilt system to move our babies out of our bodies, which predates medicine itself.
To be clear, I’m in full support of interventions when there is an actual medical need. But I have spoken to too many pregnant people in the last week who are terrified of what could go wrong if they leave it to nature to run it’s course. And it’s actually upsetting to hear this over and over again. Wtf happened?
I’m so passionate about this, supporting people to navigate their fears and reframe their brains when it comes to birth and trust their in bodies ability to birth their baby.
Home birth is another topic which comes up, misconceptions about it being risky, and people not being supported by friends and family due to concerns it’s putting the baby in danger.
The outcome of the Lancet report (April 2020) “ Maternal outcomes and birth interventions among women who begin labour intending to give birth at home compared to women of low obstetrical risk who intend to give birth in hospital: A systematic review and meta-analyses” states the following:
“Among low-risk women, those intending to birth at home experienced fewer birth interventions and untoward maternal outcomes. These findings along with earlier work reporting neonatal outcomes inform families, health care providers and policy makers around the safety of intended home births.”
