MMR Vaccinations – Is Your Child Up to Date?

Measles cases are on the rise, and it’s more important than ever to make sure your child is protected.

Catch-up clinics are available – book your appointment today!

Stay safe. Stay protected 💉🦠

Did you know❓

Measles and mumps are starting to appear again, even though the MMR vaccine is the best protection against both diseases.

This is serious as measles can lead to life-threatening complications like meningitis, and mumps can cause hearing loss.

Important
🔸 If 95% of children receive the MMR vaccine, this would stop measles spreading completely.
🔸However, measles, mumps and rubella can quickly spread again if fewer than 90% of people are vaccinated.
🔸Everyone should be up to date with their routine vaccinations to give them the best protection.

Double bank holiday is approaching… please ensure your repeat medication has been ordered / collected 💊

Better health starts with you. Here’s some simple things you can do or changes you can make to help keep well over the upcoming Bank Holidays.

1. Keep a basic first aid kit well stocked.

2. Use your local community pharmacy for minor health concerns and get to know their opening times.

3. Plan ahead by ordering your repeat prescriptions at least seven days in advance. Bank Holidays may mean that more time is needed for your GP and pharmacy to process your prescriptions.

If you have a minor health concern during the Bank Holiday period, then the NHS 111 Wales website can offer advice on what you should do.

Remember to only call 999 for life-threatening and serious emergencies or injuries only.

NEW CLINICAL IT SYSTEM 🗓️We would like to inform our patients that we will be transitioning to a new clinical IT system ...

NEW CLINICAL IT SYSTEM 🗓️

We would like to inform our patients that we will be transitioning to a new clinical IT system between 10th February 2025 and 21st February 2025. During this period, we anticipate some temporary disruption to our usual services as we upgrade the system. Please be assured that we have taken significant steps to minimise any impact, but there may still be a reduction in our ability to process certain tasks efficiently due to a limited number of computers available.

What does this mean for you?
• Reduced availability of computers: The upgrade process will require a temporary reduction in available computers, which could lead to slower processing times or delays in certain services.
• Prioritisation of tasks: We will be prioritising critical cases and essential functions during this time. Non-urgent matters may experience delays.
• Communication channels: While the IT system is being upgraded, please expect longer response times to any non-urgent queries or requests.

How we’re preparing:
• We have trained our team to ensure that vital services continue without interruption.
• Temporary manual processes will be in place to handle urgent matters where necessary.
• We will do our best to keep you informed of any major developments or changes in the schedule.

We apologise for any inconvenience this may cause and appreciate your understanding and cooperation.

We are excited about the improvements the new system will bring and are committed to ensuring a smooth transition with as little disruption as possible.

Temporary hospital visiting precautions in place to protect patients

We’re asking visitors to our hospitals across Carmarthenshire, Ceredigion, and Pembrokeshire to only attend if they are free of any potential flu-like symptoms, or any sickness or diarrhoea. Additionally, they may be requested to wear face masks before entry to certain wards or departments.

Seasonal flu and winter vomiting viruses are affecting patients on several wards with infection prevention and control actions being taken, as necessary.

Visitors are asked to only come to see their loved ones if they are free of any infections, to wash hands before leaving home and clean hands on arrival at the hospital/ward using the hand sanitiser. Visitors may also be asked to wear face masks/coverings on the ward/department they are visiting. Masks will be available at the hospital entrance or can be provided on affected wards.

There are additional restrictions in place that limit visitors to:
Acute Medical Assessment Unit (AMAU) at Prince Philip Hospital, Llanelli. Please discuss individual patient visiting arrangements at AMAU with the nurse in charge.
This arrangement will be reviewed daily, and restrictions will be lifted as soon as possible.

Thank you for your co-operation.
