Sometimes you don't need fancy equipment you just need to break down what the problem is and find ways of practicing.

One of my patients yesterday struggles with walking over thresholds. So I got out my trusty extra long empty bed rolls and we used them to break the task down, practicing one step, then more, further apart, and eventually closer together.

We've also been practicing step touches with a low to high step and practicing on the clinic steps outside!

Amazing what you can do with a cardboard tube!

Love this analogy. I've personally been here and its not a nice place to be. Thankfully it was nearly ten years ago now but I will say that many positive experiences came after, and because of, this time in my life. Starting this clinic was one of those things 🥰

Who knows what would have happened if my candle hadn't gone out for a while in the first place...

If you're going through a hard time, keep on going. Your rainbow will come 🌈 you will burn brightly again, maybe even brighter than before. ❤

Look for a Saturday night challenge?

Ever tried marching on the spot blindfolded? 🎯 Spoiler: you won’t stay in the square! ⬜

Without your eyes, your brain loses one of its main balance tools and has to rely on body awareness and your inner ear. Even tiny left/right differences mean you’ll drift, usually forwards or in circles.

👉 Fun to watch, but also a great reminder that practicing challenges like this can improve balance, coordination, and spot those little imbalances that physios love to help with!

This looks easy.....until you try it! Let me know how you get on 👇

My X- ray shows arthritis of my hip....can physio still help?

YES!

X-rays are only part of the story.

A common story is a gradually progressing arthritic hip over many years, over time the joint can become stiffer and more restricted but perhaps you also gradually start doing less and less, maybe because it hurts, maybe because you're worried about making it worse, either way using the leg less and protecting it causes the muscles around the joint to gradually get weaker which means it cant cope with the demands you put on it leading to more pain, and more inactivity.

This cycle can go on and on and this is why physio can be so important.

No, we can't change the structural changes in the bone but we can help strengthen the muscles surrounding it which in turn takes the strain off the joint and can reduce pain.

And don't forget there are lots and lots of people out there who have arthritic joints on x-ray who have no pain at all - x-rays can be useful but aren't the whole story ❤️

Running a social media page to promote your business (and sole form of income) and you try and put helpful, educational posts out there as often as you can to reach a wider audience and grow......and the thing that gets the most engagement?!? The colour of your tea ...... 🤣 Social media is a funny thing.

Just going to leave this perfect colour tea right here.....oh and by the way for all the new followers who will now flock to the page, we do great physio too 😉🤣

Physio Môn

The clinic was established in May 2017 and is based just outside Llangefni, a convenient central location from anywhere on Anglesey. Our physiotherapy clinic offers a wide variety of treatment techniques including manual therapy, acupuncture, soft tissue massage, ultrasound and tailored exercise plans for you to take away with you. We offer flexible appointments including Saturday’s and evenings and have a team of highly qualified Chartered Physiotherapists, each with over 10 years experience, ready to help you get back on track.

Making sure that you understand what’s causing your problem and what you can do to help yourself is very important to us, we believe that we are not doing our job properly unless you no longer need us! We can help you with all of your aches, pains, injuries, and post operative rehabilitation. In addition we now have hand rehabilitation clinics and pre and post pregnancy rehabilitation clinics. All of our team also work in the NHS meaning we know all the local orthopaedic team and post operative guidelines. Three out of four of our physiotherapists also work in the specialised spine clinic, assessing and treating highly complex spinal conditions.

As a clinic we are committed to promoting and improving health and fitness in the community which is why we set up Môn Walkers - our fun, free and friendly community walking group, over 150 people have been out with us so far since Spring 2018 on fun and friendly walks across stunning Anglesey promoting Walking for Health! Join our group page @mônwalkers to keep up to date with news on this.
