Stress Awareness Month
Stress isnât just âpart of life âitâs affecting more people than ever before.
Mental Health Foundation suggests that 74% of UK adults have felt so stressed they were overwhelmed or unable to cope. Astonishingly threequarters of the adult population canât cope with life. Modern IT and overloading on screen time is not helpful for mental health stress and anxiety. Screens overloads the brain therefore lifestyle choices are part of the indirect problem.
Stress is not just emotional, itâs biological and effects systems within body and mind, automatic nervous system. Nervous system affects whole body, physically as well as biochemically with hormones, sleep, fertility, mood, digestion. Over time, chronic stress raises cortisol, disrupts balance, stress hormones release and contraindicators place strain on the whole body.
In particular impacts for women are greater as their demands are bigger with family, home and career, this can show up as: Irregular cycles, PMS, fatigue, anxiety, and worsening menopause symptoms. The challenge is stress often builds quietly. Women push through, carry on, and override the signals⌠until the body forces attention.
The body is not failing it is communicating. Listen earlier. Support sooner.
Early awareness is everything.
My best advice is donât ignore, listen and make changes. Otherwise chronic exhaustion can kick in. Donât do what I did, ignored carried on and received health issues, that took five plus years to correct. Respect your health and have a smoother life because children miss out when mum is out of sync!
